CO-SLEEPING PARENTS, DID YOU EVER GET OVER THE FEAR AND ANXIETY OF HARMING YOUR BABY IN YOUR SLEEP?
Jan 27th
Question by Maritime Mummy to 2 Little Imps!:
Co-sleeping parents, did you ever get over the fear and anxiety of harming your baby in your sleep?
I never co-slept with my daughter because I knew both my husband and I slept very heavily and tossed around all night. For me, having her in her crib seemed much safer. Now I have a newborn son and we are short on bedrooms for the time being, so until we complete renovations and he has a room of his own, we have a co-sleeper set up next to our bed. Right now though, he is a very active nurser, and really doesn’t sleep well unless he is directly next to me. As soon as i place him in the co-sleeper he wakes up screaming.
What is my fear? Last night I must have fallen asleep burping him (in the chest-to-chest position), and when I woke up, he was in between my husband and I. While I laid there trying to figure out how he got there, my husband almost put his elbow down on our son’s face.
Like, really scary. And on top of all of that, I keep thinking about what might have happened had my son ended up in between my husband and I face -down in the bed instead of nicely on his back?
He’s going to be sharing with us for at least 4 months. At the rate that he’s waking and nursing, it’s out of the question to have him share a room with my daughter. Does the fear and anxiety ever go away? Any tips on how to keep myself from crashing while holding my baby, or from falling asleep so heavily that I harm him?

WHAT DID YOU DO FOR CO-SLEEPING WITH YOUR NEWBORN?
Dec 29th
Question by :
What did you do for co-sleeping with your newborn?
There are so many products on the market, from a co-sleeper ‘box’ in the bed, the humanity family bed, a side automobile next to the bed (like arm’s reach) and others.
I am also very curious about using a crib/toddler bed in the toddler position pushed against the parents bed as a co-sleeping option – and how to make that safe (no way for a gap to form between the two beds).
What were the pros and cons of what you tried?

TIPS FOR GETTING BREASTFED COSLEEPING BABY IN HIS OWN CRIB FOR THE NIGHT?
Oct 25th
Question by me:
Tips for getting breastfed cosleeping baby in his own crib for the night?
My baby is 11 months old. My husband and I have happily shared our bed with him, no regrets there, but feel like it is now time to have him in his own crib and preferably in his own room (although I will take just the crib in our room for now)…
He is still breastfed and that is part of his nightly routine. Bath, storytime, nursing, sleep.
He will wake up a few times in the night to nurse too. It’s very simple on us though, I just let him eat and we fall back asleep.
I know now the hard part begins, now that I am wanting to wean and get him into his own bed. It feels like it’s like dealing with a newborn all over again because suddenly I am having to get up with him in the night if I want him to go back to sleep.
Any experiences, and hints about what worked for you if you were in my situation?
I loved the time I have spent cosleeping and nursing my baby but it is time for a new chapter in life!

COSLEEPING QUESTION– PERSONAL EXPERIENCE PLEASE!?
Oct 25th
Question by pilar:
cosleeping question– personal experience please!?
i would like to know how it works out, cosleeping with a toddler and a baby in the same bed…. dangerous?
the reason i am asking this is… i am currently cosleeping with my little 5 month old girl. but i will probably have another child in the next couple years. i have no problem cosleeping with little lady for years to come but if i have another baby i do not want to kick her out then when she is used to it, that is cruel. it howver seems particularly problematic to cosleep with both a toddler and a newborn….
has anyone made this work? am i worried for nothing?

WHEN SHOULD COSLEEPING END?
Sep 30th
Question by Courtney S:
when should cosleeping end?
I have a 5 month old daughter…we cosleep about 3 or 4 nights a week, coming from 7 nights when she was a newborn. I am slowly reducing the amount of time we cosleep, due to a fear that when shes older, she wont be ale to sleep on her own. What is an appropriate age to nix cosleeping altogether, to avoid her becoming dependant on it?

WHY ARE PEOPLE SO AGAINST COSLEEPING?
Sep 4th
Question by 10 pts for me?:
Why are people so against cosleeping?
I comprehend that you shouldn’t for newborns because it’s simply not safe but when they are older. There has been so much research that says it’s superior for the child emotionally. It’s wonderful to wake up in the morning and just stare at your beautiful child sleeping and as they enter toddlerhood they are really snuggly! It’s beautiful! I have heard people say that you will never get them out of your bed…..I truly can’t see a 16 year old still wanting to share a bed with their parents. As for sex life there are plenty of other opportunities otherwise parents who cosleep with child number 1 would not have child number 2, 3 or maybe 4!
So why?

DID YOUR COSLEEPING BABY EVER SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT WHILE STILL COSLEEPING?
Aug 10th
Question by hmk:
Did your cosleeping baby ever sleep through the night while still cosleeping?
My baby is almost five months old and we cosleep and breastfeed. When she wakes and fussed in the night I nurse her back to sleep most of the time, but sometimes she’ll drift off by herself if i do nothing.
She has now begun to wake up every hour (instead of ever 2 or 3 hours). I”m wondering if there is anyone out there who has had this experience and stuck it out to see an eventual decrease in the number of wakings without ending the cosleeping and/or nursing to sleep.
Thanks for your input!

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT COSLEEPING?
Jul 16th
Question by alllieeee:
How do you feel about cosleeping?
Did anyone have any trouble getting your baby to sleep alone when she was older after cosleeping? I put my daughter to bed every night but sometimes she’s comforted superior when she falls asleep with me or next to me. Do you think it’s a problem to let the baby sleep with you or is it superior because she wakes up less during the night?
