MY 4 MONTH OLD HAS EYE INFECTION…PLEASE HELP!?
Feb 29th
Question by american:
My 4 month old has eye infection…PLEASE HELP!?
My daughter is 4 months 1 week and this morning she had just a little bit of yellow discharge coming from her eye. I cleaned it out with a tissue and it was fine. She later took a nap and when she woke up it was worse. Then another nap and she could not even open her eye. Its reddish and swelled up and a lot of yellow discharge with tears. I had that when I was a kid and my mother used saline drops and it kinda healed on its own after couple of days.
Could this be infection? or conjunctivitis?
Did your baby have anything similar? If so how did you treat it? How long? I am just so worried for her right now, I called my doc and they told me to go to an important care but I do not have a automobile and my husband is not home.
PS it’s only on her left eye
Yes, I am breastfeeding, thank you Sarah.

WHAT SHOULD I USE TO WASH MY 4 MONTH OLDS BABY TOYS??
Feb 27th
Question by melaniemia7:
What should I use to wash my 4 month olds baby toys??
My baby puts everything in his mouth (just like every other baby I guess) and he loves to put his toys in his mouth. What should I use to wash his toys that would be safe?
He also has a toy with a sqeaker button, and this one can’t be submerged in water (I do not think). What should I use for it? Spraying it with Lysol probably is not safe, is it?

HOW MANY FLUID OUNCES/MILILITRES OF BREAST MILK (APPROX. ON AVERAGE) DOES A BABY DRINK IN A 24HR DAY?
Feb 27th
Question by Angelverse:
How many fluid ounces/mililitres of breast milk (approx. on average) does a baby drink in a 24hr day?
How many fluid ounces/mililitres of breast milk (on average) does a baby drink in a 24hr period ?
Does anyone know this? It’s not about how much formula milk to mix up! I am curious to know about breast milk quantities. It’s partly because I am sometimes expressing milk and am curious to know. Thank you in advance for your answers : )

FEEL HORRIBLE….?
Feb 26th
Question by kath_08012:
feel horrible….?
I feel horrible. My husband and I tried so hard for a baby, had such a tough time of it and felt so blessed to have our daughter, and motherhood is not at all what I expected or hoped. Our daughter is perfectly healthy but has infant reflux and colic. She cries ALL the time and nothing I do seems to console her for very long. We’re trying to get to the bottom of this, going to the doctor, trying medications and changing her formula. I carry her everywhere and rock her and swaddle her and sing to her…nothing helps and I am so burnt out. This day I felt aweful for just putting her down and walking away for awhile…I’m alone all day and feel so frustrated. She will not nap and I can’t even take the time to eat without holding her. I feel like a bad mom, I love her more than life but I am feeling resentful, particularly because my friends seem to have happy babies and I have such a miserable little thing! Any tips to get through this? I know it will end but she’s only a month old now.

MY NEWBORN’S EYE IS ALL GUMMED UP. WHAT CAN I DO?
Feb 25th
Question by Sarah:
My newborn’s eye is all gummed up. What can I do?
She has a small amount of green/yellowish mucus that is coming out of her right eye. Her first physicians appointment is set for this Tuesday. She is looking around with it just fine, and doesn’t seem to be in any pain, so I think that the ER would be a bit overkill for this, and would put her in more danger than she is currently in by just needlessly exposing her to germs. I called the pediatrician that she is set up with, and they do not have a doc on call.
Have you ever dealt with this? Is it a big deal? How can I fix it, or at least keep it cleaned hygienically
Thanks!
Also… her eye is not red or discolored.

IS IT AT ALL POSSIBLE FOR A NEWBORN TO ROLL FROM THEIR BACK TO THEIR TUMMY?
Feb 25th
Question by Donna C:
Is it at all possible for a newborn to roll from their back to their tummy?
My 6 day old is rolling onto his side in his sleep. I know that your supposed to sleep babies on their backs, and I am trying to do that. Is it at all possible for him to roll absolutely over onto his belly yet? The physicians at the hospital were concerned about him rolling over onto his side like that, but they did not mention specifically why it is unsafe and I did not think to ask because I already knew that it was not an best sleep position. Is it because he could get a flat head? Or because he could roll all the way over?
Oh, and is there anything safe that I can do to keep him on his back?
Thanks!

IT’S 3:05 AM AND AWAKE WITH INFANT?
Feb 25th
Question by utah mom:
It’s 3:05 am and awake with infant?
IT’s 3:05am and I am awake with my baby girl because she doesn’t want to sleep unless I am holding her, and I am so exhausted that when I hold her, I fall asleep and I do not wanna drop her, and so she is in her swing and I am soo tired.
She has been changed and also fed a bottle… she just wont sleep if your not holding her right now.
How long did it take you to get your infant on a sleeping routine, OR how do you do it to where you can also get some sleep at night? I started crying tonight because I am just so tired.
I’m off of work for now and my husband works and so he wakes up early and so I am awake with her at night on the days he has to work… I used to love the bed in our room to go to bed, but now its just depressing because I know I wont be able to sleep anyways.
