Question by ♥Lucky♥:
Getting infant to sleep in his crib ?

My 4 month old baby’s pediatrician recommended using a transitional object to get the baby to sleep in his crib. This is an object he will associate with sleep, which he will use to sooth himself back to sleep when he wakes up throughout the night.

Examples she gave are: a sound machine that the baby controls, a blanket, a stuffed animal, or a toy that lights up when touched.

What transitional objects have worked for you?

Answer by Betsy
Are you saying you have been co-sleeping? If so this is what we are doing now even though our son is a bit older-14 months. We took the rails off one side of his crib (it’s the convertible type) and put it in between the wall and my side of the bed. He now is in his own bed most of the night but still has me close by which is what he is used to having. We LOVE co-sleeping and aren;t trying to stop it but have a new baby due in a few months and it just kind of “stretches” the bed space a bit for us.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY TIPS ON GETTING A NEWBORN TO SLEEP IN A CRIB? Wed, 10 Nov 2010 18:48:17 +0000 admin Question by bright eyes:
does anyone have any tips on getting a newborn to sleep in a crib?

when my daughter was born she would not sleep in a crib so the nurse put her into bed with me since then she will not sleep unless she is in bed with me but i am too nervous with her. my mom recommended to put her on her stomach but the nurse advised against it! can anyone give me any tips to get her to sleep in her crib?

Answer by Noah’s Mommy & Marine Wife.
She might not like the crib because it’s a big, open, place for her right now. Try a bassinet if you have one, or a moses basket.

You can also try swaddling her and then putting her down in the crib if the other two options aren’t available for you. This will help her feel more secure.

I would not place her on her belly at this age. Research has shown that placing a baby on their back can help reduce SIDS until your baby can roll over consistently.

Getting infant to sleep in crib?

I am going to begin getting my 6 month old daughter to sleep in her own crib, instead of with me. How should I go about doing this tonight? Also, should she take her naps in there as well, right now she naps in her stroller during the day.

Answer by me
Yes, she should. And get ready for a fight, literally. But in the long run it will be worth it. It could take a few nights of crying and hollering but leaving her and conditioning her to sleep in her own crib be will be the ideal decision you have made.

Advice on getting baby to sleep in crib?

I have put her in the crib before but she will wake up each 2 hours. If she sleeps with me she sleeps 12 hours, but I cannot rest good. She is 5 months. How long does it take for her to get used to sleeping alone?

Answer by Good Gushy
It will at ideal take a week and at worst a couple of months. Keep it up though, she WILL get used to it.
