How to Choose Safe Baby Toys

Trying to have a baby on a tight budget?
Is this wrong? Ok. So my boyfriend and I are getting married soon (yay!) and we want to try for a baby soon after. I work at an antique mall and he works at BW3′s, so we’re not exactly rich. However, we both believe that all these THINGS that people insist babies need are mostly ridiculous and because of commercials. I mean, when my nephew was born my sister paid $ 150 for a bed set and said it was a DEAL! You’ve got to be kidding! The boy never even slept in it once! Also, there are all of these toys that are supposed to instruct them things and walkers and bouncy seats and fancy childproofing equipment etc etc etc. I plan to be old school. When it comes down to it, a baby needs love, nourishment and safety. It will certainly be loved and safe with us. Also, I plan to breastfeed and when the baby moves on to baby food, I am not buying the costly mush by the jar packed with God knows what when I have a perfectly good food processor and a fridge full of healthy real food. I have a grandmother that’s an amazing quilter and she, I am sure will be more than happy to help me make a bed set for my little guy or girl. I do not think everything needs to match, I do not think you need an interior decorator for a nursery and I do not think an infant needs a new $ 30 outfit for every day of the week or his or her picture taken professionally every month. Because I will take photos with my own camera, accept hand-me-downs and make everything I can for my baby, will I be viewed as a bad mother? I know people that parent just slightly off the beaten track and are looked down upon by modern moms. Why is this? What’s wrong with being old-fashioned? Cave people had healthy happy babies and I do not think I should be seen as a poor mom because my child doesn’t get the newest Power Wheels for Christmas or doesn’t have every single big stroller automobile seat and gadget that you can find in stores. Am I wrong? Should I just wait until we have more money in a few years or possibly never?? We’re already saving! Please help!
