Choosing Baby Nursery Colors
COULD I POST A POEM HERE AND HEAR OPINIONS ON WHETHER IT IS IN GOOD TASTE OR NOT? RE BABIES?
May 1st
Question by Dougie Quick:
Could I post a poem here and hear views on whether it is in good taste or not? Re Babies?
BTW the limerick here I chose the title: “Pink or blue?”
“A baby was born in Peru, with genetic instructions for two. Father made a stink when the mom chose pink so they settled on both pink and blue.”
So I am just asking anyone: Do you think it might cross a line for decency? I mean it does happen, does it make a child obscene? How could any newborn child be obscene? The filth would only be in someone’s mind. But aside from the issue that of course an actual individual’s privacy would never permit making such a discussion along with their identity. Limiting things to the fictional then, the question becomes: is it healthy to treat the idea of such kids as taboo or is it okay to make full mention of them along with “normal” babies? If it’s not taboo then what about this sort of limerick among other poems and such in a little book centered on babies? To me it just demonstrates the parents strong love for their child and each other in suggesting that the biggest problem in dealing with such an occurrence is solved in deciding what colors to decorate the nursery in. It’s almost making the fact that their child having two sets of DNA if not a small thing then at least nothing that is going to shake them in their love of each other or the child. Obviously not that some folks could not see in it recommendations of various leanings or politics, morality stances etc. However nothing of the sort is in there at all, and for that matter one might follow it to down right obscene scenarios if they were bent like that. In every case it would all spring from their own heart, as I guarantee it was not in the writer’s mind. Well anyway what do you all say about it? Thanks in advance

WHICH NURSERY DESIGN DO YOU LIKE THE BEST AND WHY?
Nov 6th
Question by LąÐÿ L:
Which nursery design do you like the ideal and why?
Sorry if this is in the wrong group but I could not get any useful answers.
Our newborn will have more of a regal or royal sounding name and now hubby and I like two types of bedding and wall art but can’t decide:
1: http://www.diapers.com/p/cocalo-daniella-six-piece-crib-set-72754
2: http://www.diapers.com/p/cocalo-sugar-plum-six-piece-crib-set-74534
Which do you like and more importantly…WHY? I am not sure if the difference between soothing and invigorating colors will affect the kid. Thanks in advance.
PS: The furniture is dark cherry and the walls and carpet can match with both. As a newborn the kid will sleep with in a bassinet but this is just to prepare the room as she gets older and help me with coping with pregnancy growing pains lol.
Well this bedding is actually cheaper in the store I am getting it from. It will not be from this costly site lol. Just trying to figure which to put on my registery. My sister is interested in getting it for us. It’s the only website that I can find to show you all with a superior picture of the wall art.

YOUR OPINION ON FINDING OUT GENDERS BEFORE BIRTH + BQ?
Sep 8th
Question by Agnes {pregnant with twins!}:
Your view on finding out genders before birth + BQ?
My husband and I are anticipating twins, and we are thus far undecided whether we’re going to learn the genders before I give birth or not. He feels strongly that we should find out because it will be helpful to get all of our shopping, nursery decorating, and name choosing out of the way before the delivery day, since we’re sure to have our hands full with two infants. I, on the other hand, feel strongly that we should wait to find out until they’re born. While it is not set in stone, this will probably be our only pregnancy, and all my life I have been looking forward to the moment the physician calls, “It’s a boy/girl!” I feel like not knowing will give me extra incentive to push while I am in labor, and truthfully, how many good surprises are there in life? I comprehend my husband’s concerns and I think they’re viable… but honestly, largely superficial. There is no reason why we can’t decorate the nursery in light yellows and greens and purchase infant clothes and accessories every color of the rainbow. I honestly do not think a baby girl will care if she’s snuggling with a light BLUE blanket, or vice versa.
So that’s where we’re at right now. We’ve talked about this dilema many times and will continue to do so until we reach a decision, but I would like to hear personal stories from other YA! users. Did you find out the gender before birth? Do you regret it? Why or why not? Any other advice?
BQ: We’ve actually narrowed down our name choices already. For two boys, we like Oliver and Charlie, and for a boy and a girl, we like Jack and Lucy. Any views you have to offer on these four names would be lovely, as well as middle name suggestions.
Thank you.

I NEED TO KNOW THE SPECIFIC TYPE OF FABRIC!!?
Aug 9th
Question by gracesgirl:
I need to know the specific type of fabric!!?
I asked my question yesterday with only one answer….which helped me as far as size…let me explain.
There is a book on infant care “Moms on Call”…I heard about it on a radio show and have read hundreds of wonderful reviews that were 99% positive. I have the book ordered but want to keep it packaged for my daughter-in-law, so it doesn’t appear used at all.
In the book, the authors advocate a swaddling blanket. They sell it on their website and I know now the size is 44″x44″. However, in the radio show they said it needed to be a specific type of fabric. Their website does not have it in the colors of the baby’s nursery, so I am going to have one custom made.
Has anyone read this book and can tell me what type of fabric to get (as well as the border fabric).
Any one-of-a-kind ideas for a gift for her (my daughter-in-law? This is my first grandchild and I want to give her a special thank you gift just between us. I was thinking of starting a Willow Tree collection. Ideas?

“AWW HE LOVES MICKEY MORE THAN POOH!” – RUDE COMMENT FROM A FRIEND HAS ME UPSET WITH HER- WHAT TO DO?

Question by ..:
“Aww he loves Mickey more than Pooh!” – rude comment from a friend has me upset with her- what to do?
Last night I was watching a friend’s son while she worked the midnight shift.
This morning she came over to pick her son up.
My husband and I watch her son so often, he has a toddler bed in our son’s nursery.
My son is 5 months old. My husband and I did his entire nursery in Winnie-the-Pooh. We both loved Pooh growing up, m nursery was Pooh when I was an infant, Pooh is a bright interesting color- it only seemed natural for us to do his room in Pooh. And ironically, his favorite toy is a stuffed Pooh, its the only one he’ll babble with, and the only one he cries if you try to take away from him.
Her son is 3 years old and obcessed with Mickey Mouse.
I do not personally like Mickey Mouse, not because of Mickey himself, but because my ex (who was both sexually and phyiscally abusive) had a vintage Mickey collection. So now whenever I see Mickey, I think of him and its almost like reliving that trauma again.
My friend knows why I hate Mickey and she knows why I love Pooh
yet she went out of her way to make sure everything that her son needed to spend the night was Mickey Mouse: the sheets for the toddler bed, the pillow, the stuffed animal he slept with, the shirt he changed into in the morning.
Which is all fine, he loves Mickey, its only natural to surround him with what he likes.
But then she did something that really pushed my buttons:
when she came to pick her son up, she took her son’s stuffed Mickey Mouse and pushed it into my son’s face, my son grabbed Mickey’s leg and pulled the toy down from his face
then she says “aww, he loves Mickey more than Pooh!”
This action was apart of a pattern of disrespectful behavior
(see question I posted yesterday: )

I do not want to make a big issue out of this, however I can shake my upset feeling.
How can I get past her continuous rude behavior?
(Especially when I do not think she realizes what she is doing.)
