COULD I POST A POEM HERE AND HEAR OPINIONS ON WHETHER IT IS IN GOOD TASTE OR NOT? RE BABIES?
May 1st
Question by Dougie Quick:
Could I post a poem here and hear views on whether it is in good taste or not? Re Babies?
BTW the limerick here I chose the title: “Pink or blue?”
“A baby was born in Peru, with genetic instructions for two. Father made a stink when the mom chose pink so they settled on both pink and blue.”
So I am just asking anyone: Do you think it might cross a line for decency? I mean it does happen, does it make a child obscene? How could any newborn child be obscene? The filth would only be in someone’s mind. But aside from the issue that of course an actual individual’s privacy would never permit making such a discussion along with their identity. Limiting things to the fictional then, the question becomes: is it healthy to treat the idea of such kids as taboo or is it okay to make full mention of them along with “normal” babies? If it’s not taboo then what about this sort of limerick among other poems and such in a little book centered on babies? To me it just demonstrates the parents strong love for their child and each other in suggesting that the biggest problem in dealing with such an occurrence is solved in deciding what colors to decorate the nursery in. It’s almost making the fact that their child having two sets of DNA if not a small thing then at least nothing that is going to shake them in their love of each other or the child. Obviously not that some folks could not see in it recommendations of various leanings or politics, morality stances etc. However nothing of the sort is in there at all, and for that matter one might follow it to down right obscene scenarios if they were bent like that. In every case it would all spring from their own heart, as I guarantee it was not in the writer’s mind. Well anyway what do you all say about it? Thanks in advance
