CAN YOU CUT YOUR CATS NAILS WITH INFANT SAFETY SCISSORS? http://birthpolicy.org/369/can-you-cut-your-cats-nails-with-infant-safety-scissors/ http://birthpolicy.org/369/can-you-cut-your-cats-nails-with-infant-safety-scissors/#comments Wed, 10 Nov 2010 18:48:48 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/369/can-you-cut-your-cats-nails-with-infant-safety-scissors/ Question by deerdancepark:
Can you cut your cats nails with infant safety scissors?

I have an unopened package of infant safety scissors (that I do not intend on using for both baby and cats). They need their nails trimmed, and I cant afford to go purchase ones specialized for animals right now. Will these work for them in a safe, comfortable way? I hope this doesn’t sound ridiculous! Thanks.

Answer by Bonnie
probably not its ideal to not cut your cats nails that is why the scratch n kneed to file their nails down n its not safe to trim your baby’s nails with a clippers you used on your cat its not sanitary because cats paws are dirty n on the ground n they stand in their own feces in the litter box. and kids put there hands in their mouth.

WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO TRIM A NEWBORN’S NAILS? http://birthpolicy.org/281/whats-the-best-way-to-trim-a-newborns-nails/ http://birthpolicy.org/281/whats-the-best-way-to-trim-a-newborns-nails/#comments Fri, 29 Oct 2010 07:54:19 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/281/whats-the-best-way-to-trim-a-newborns-nails/ Question by Kat:
What’s the ideal way to trim a newborn’s nails?

My baby is 6 days old and he seems to scratch himself if he doesn’t have his tiny mittens on. My pediatrician stated it’s probably ideal to just use a nail file for now instead of trying cliping or slicing them.

What works ideal for you guys?

Answer by krystal
i would use a nail file, do it when the baby is nearly asleep or is eating to make it a tiny easier.

HOW TO KEEP A BABY’S NAILS PROPERLY TRIMMED AND FILED…? http://birthpolicy.org/80/how-to-keep-a-babys-nails-properly-trimmed-and-filed/ http://birthpolicy.org/80/how-to-keep-a-babys-nails-properly-trimmed-and-filed/#comments Fri, 20 Aug 2010 08:35:27 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/80/how-to-keep-a-babys-nails-properly-trimmed-and-filed/ Question by Beth:
How to keep a baby’s nails properly trimmed and filed…?

My baby is 3 1/2 months old and he scratches himself, badly, all the time. The thing is, he is way too old for those mitts, they are either too small or he rips them off in 2 seconds. And I keep his nails as short as possible, but they are still sharp no matter how much I file them down. I am doing his nails each day now! Has anyone else dealt with this? What eventually worked for you?
