Question by Nickynackynoo:
Is there such a thing as nail file for baby nails?
My 3 month old has razor sharp nails and she keep sctraching herself, I have used scratch mits but she just sucks them until they are soaking wet. I have baby scissors and I trim her nails often, no matter how I do it, her nails are still very sharp and I want to stop using scratch mits as she is learning to grab etc.. now and I do not want to hinder her development. I need to file her nails to soften them and an adult file is too harsh, any advice?
I have to wait until she is fast asleep before I can cut her nails, and even then she clenches her tiny fist so tight that I get cannot do a great job. She is always rubbing her eyes and nose and consequently cuts herself. I have put mits on her again this day and she is just sucking on the mits instead of her hands.
Thanks for info on where to get them but I live in Greece. UK shops would be useful as I can get someone to send them over.

Answer by Kandy
Baby nail clippers!

Answer by funkytown girl
yes go purchase it at walmart

Answer by moongoddess209
Yes…they are really small gentle emery boards. I have some that came in one of my tiny medical kits from my baby shower. Or you could try using the light side from the emery board…it is not much different than the darker side of the baby file.

Question by Erin G:
help with infant care?
My physician told me to trim my daughters nails while she was sleeping because she keeps scratching her face! I usually keep the tiny mittens on her but she usually gets them off somehow. Anyways I accidentally caught a bit of her skin along with the nail and i feel absolutely horrible. It bleed a tiny bit and she didnt cry much so i dont think i really injured her. I cleaned it with peroxide and it stopped bleeding. Is tere anything else i should do?

——————————————

Answer by RileysMom♥
dont feel bad, it was an accident and im sure she is fine. i just bite my tiny girls nails, that way i can feel with my tongue where her skin is, and can make sure i dont catch it.

Answer by cub_chaos
My gran did that to my cousin’s baby, she will be fine. Next time you cut baby’s nails, use your thumb to pull the skin away from the nail first and make sure you can clearly see the clippers under her nails.

My mum even turns on the light, just make sure she is really deep asleep.

Answer by Katey
Quit being worried about tiny things like this. What are you going to do when she falls and scrapes her knees- rush her to the hospital for a band-aid? You are being overprotective- stop it!

Answer by krystal
i would use a nail file, do it when the baby is nearly asleep or is eating to make it a tiny easier.

Question by Beth:
How to keep a baby’s nails properly trimmed and filed…?
My baby is 3 1/2 months old and he scratches himself, badly, all the time. The thing is, he is way too old for those mitts, they are either too small or he rips them off in 2 seconds. And I keep his nails as short as possible, but they are still sharp no matter how much I file them down. I am doing his nails each day now! Has anyone else dealt with this? What eventually worked for you?

Answer by mommymisty416
keep his nails clipped thats all you can do
