Question by :
circumcision and my brother, his friend and my son…?
I have been contemplating circumcision for my son since I found out I was pregnant. hes now 4 days old and I want it done. I know everyone states its not cleaner and whatever else but I believe it is and so does my husband. so my brother and his friend were over when we were speaking about it and neither of them are circumcised and they both stated that he would be upset if I didnt get him circumcised. they both want to get circumcised but dont want to go through the pain or recovery. They sad they wished my mother and his friends mother would have done it when they were newborns. they arent the first ones Ive heard it from though.

so why is the new information saying that its no suggested anymore. I honestly believe its cleaner and that my son will appreciate not remembering it. and yes around here they numb newborns when they do it and the pediatricians dont do it, they make you go to a urologist. I know this is a huge issue and old evidence states its cleaner and healthier so why would it all of a sudden change?

my husband wasnt circumcised when we met and I kept getting UTIs and yeast infections so he decided to have it done. hes one of the cleanest men I know and I know he washed each day very good but I just kept getting them. ever since he got circumcised I havent had one. and he stated the pain was unbearable even with the pain meds and that the time off work was ridiculous. a newborns skin is SO much thinner too. just like clipping the skin under their tongue if they have tongue tie. I dont know I guess from my experience I think each boy should be circumcised.
I stated they didnt numb babies because a lot of people like to state they dont. and trust me, we shower together all the time, I know hes clean and Im clean too. we always made sure we were clean but I still got them.
I stated they DO** numb babies sorry. and the question is in the question…why did the info change all of a sudden? is it because so many people complain and this its wrong?

——————————————

Answer by Huge Nosed Beauty
EVERY physicians numbs babies. It’s offensive that you imply it would be somehow be acceptable if they didn’t. What is the point of “not remembering” if as you say, it will not hurt?

Answer by carol
I’m sorry I dont see the question??
You want him circumcised go do it, you are his parents it is up to you, the two of you not your husbands friend!?
Ive never been with a circumcised man and never got any utis or anything from them so yeah think your hubby was not as clean as he claimed!

Answer by amin
Dear concerned mom,
well theres nothing to worry about.i have a four month son and we circumcised him before he reached 1 month without any pain.surgeon have reached new methods and there is no need of any stiches or incisions.since we are muslims and our country iran is an islamic country it is a usual surgery and also in our religion it has suggested to get circumcised for a superior health.the new method is that they roll the skin which covers the head of the penis round a small plastic ring and after a week the skin will fall without any injured and without any need of chemical substances to numb the beby.the only small pain is when they are installing the plastic ring on the right place which is not a realy painful like the method that they use stiches.in the old method that they use stiches they also numb the baby which i myself have also circumcised with this method and after a day the pains starts and you will have bleeding sometimes but in the new method there will be no bleeding and no hurt.so dont worry.and when i discussed this issue with a specialist, the physician stated that the ideal time for circumcising is before 1 month or after 5 years because otherwise it will psychologically effect on the child’s mentality.and a baby with below a month does not feel any thing because the skin is so thin and the method works rapidly without any pain.i care about my son and i know that this method was realy great.he didnt even cry a bit because in this method usually there is no pain and because the skin is rapped round the ring the blood would not reach the skin and it will fall without any bleeding.i and my wife are very satisfied and it wasnt anything to worry about.you know that not being circumcised might get yourself and your mate infected and will make some problems even when you be always clean.bacterias are to small to see in order to be sure that you are 100% clean.
so dont worry and help your son to have a superior life in future and a superior relation with his future wife.best wishes for you and the new born

Question by :
How do i get rid of my baby’s tongue thrush?
My son is one month old and I have noticed some thrush on his tongue, its not severe, but it seems to be bothering him I just started cleaning his tongue with a wet warm towel and I think it works but is there anything else I can get it rid of faster?

I’m a first time mother by the way so you would comprehend my worries.

——————————————

Answer by Jenners
My son got this all the time. I used nystatin. I gave it to him 4 times a day (my doc approved this for him when he was 2 weeks old, might want to check with his doc) .5ml to each side of his mouth for 5 days and if that did not work my physician told me to bring him in, it worked like a charm for my son! I wish you luck!

Answer by ♥♥umm sarah, moe arrived 11-7-10♥♥
I would continue with warm wash cloth.

Also you could get a prescription from your physician to treat his thrush.

Are you bottle feeding? If you bottle feeding, then you need to sterilize or even toss some of the bottle nipples. Or pacifiers.

Answer by Jenny
My daughter got it when she was first born but we went to the physicians and they told me to go to my local pharmacy and get this stuff call Gentain Violet and use a q tip and dip it in the container and rub it all over their mouth. My doc stated to do it once a day but sometimes I did it two times a day. I also washed all my bottles in hot soapy water after each use. If you are breastfeeding you should get some anti fungal cream and rub it in the nipples and wipe it off before you feed the doc told me I could also put the Gentain Violet on my boobs if i didnt mind having purple nipples lol. But I do warn you that the Gentain Violet will turn your babys mouth purple. I just used a bib to keep it from staining her clothes. It does stain if you get it on your clothes.

——————————————

Answer by adventureisnear
When given the child a bath make a habit of wiping his/her gums with the cloth.
My dentist told me that making this a habit now at just months old it will become a habit when they are two brushing there teeth.

Answer by tory43215678
A small wash cloth with warm water. Wipe down the gums and tongue. Anytime is good. Maybe after a few weeks born if breast fed, but sooner if formula fed.

Answer by cathrl69
I’ve never cleaned my baby’s tongue, nor been told to.

As far as I can make out, this is a Canadian thing. It’s not so much as mentioned in guidance to new mums in the UK, and an American nurse who looks after new mums and babies in hospital stated she’d never heard of it either.

Question by newbie:
how to clean baby’s tongue??
my son is about 8 wks…and the top of his tongue is WHITE! I am sure its probably from the milk…

My mom told me to use a warm cloth and just kinda rub at it and it should come off…or a tongue brush or whatnot…

But my question is….do i have to? is this going to cause any problems if i don’t? I am asking this because everytime I get near his mouth with it, he clamps his mouth shuts. haha. I got it in once and he just started crying hysterically. ..I think he realizes now that its not my breast going in his mouth. whatta brat already!
ooo..I’m actaully not sure if its thrush or not…

uh-oh…

well he has a DR appt tomorrow so i will be sure to ask the dr…

would he be in pain if it is thrush?? aww, my poor baby..

——————————————

Answer by lesmith
Are you sure its not thrush?

I think it can be painful =0( At least you are going to the dr. tomorrow so they can rule that out for you. If it’s not thrush then I would not worry about it. He will begin teething before you know it and that milk will come off on whatever he is chewing on. Good luck!

Answer by Artie Lange for President!
Leave him alone, the milk is not going to injured him.

Answer by NewMomma
You can just leave it alone if it’s just white from milk. However, I recommend trying to rub it with a washcloth at least once to see if it does come off.

If it doesn’t theres a chance it’s thrush, which could be painful for your son and needs medication to be cleared, plus he can pass it to you and it is sooooo painful to breastfeed with thrush.

——————————————

Answer by mtyrgalo
wash your hands.. then you take either a cloth (a clean one) or a paper towel, wet it, wrap it around your finger (just one layer), and stick it into your baby’s mouth and lightly wipe the tongue.. it can be done at any age.. it’s not the age that matters – it’s the fact that the tongue needs to be cleaned. as soon as you notice it, you can do it..

Answer by Maryam T
Are you sure it is milk and not thrush? is there other white spots in your babys mouth that just look like milk stains? If there are, get your baby into a physician asap. It does not injured baby, but it is a very common infection that can cause a bad rash on the babys bottom, and your breasts if you breast feed. If it really is milk, just get a baby tooth brush and wipe it off with your finger tip while baby is sucking on it.

——————————————

Answer by Sana ahmed
My daughter had the same issue. Some stated it was thrush which is a bacteria most infants get. But ididnt bother to give her any meds because the physicians were not sure either and the meds had tooany side effects so iwould clean it with a damp towel lightly.

Answer by Kristina
This used to drive me crazy too. Try a damp cloth wrapped around your finger tip and then put it in her mouth. Typically babies chew or suck on anything in their mouth. My 2 year old did when she was that age. If it can be cleaned off then its just the formula. If not then the baby needs meds because thrush is no picnic. My daughter also had that.

Answer by Nora
http://www.babycenter.com/0_thrush-in-babies_92.bc

First of all, determine if it’s thrust or milk residue. Thrush is a yeast infection in the mouth and needs medicine to treat it. Milk residue will come off if you wipe her tongue with a damp washcloth. Thrust will not come off or if it does, her tongue will bleed or look inflamed in the spot where you wiped. If your baby has milk residue on her tongue, you can clean her tongue by wiping it with a damp washcloth or giving her a VERY TINY amount of water after feeding her. If she has thrush, you need to speak to her physician about what medicines to give her and what to put on your breasts because you probably have thrush in your breasts as well. Also boil her bottle nipples and pacifiers or get new ones.

——————————————
my nearly 2 month old is formula fed, and there is a lot of white buildup on his tongue and it smells kinda foul like a shoe; the physician stated it looked normal and not like oral thrush; but it never goes away and seems so thick and the smell…is there anything i can do? i use a baby gum massager to try to loosen it, but he gags of course, and doesn’t give up the tongue his mouth is too tiny to really get at it. what can i do?

Answer by loving mummy
Try giving him cooled boiled water after everyfeed to clear the mouth x

Answer by cavorim
Change your physician – the child clearly has a candida overgrowth, babies never have bad breath!

Answer by Lovely
I take a clean baby wash rag with cold water and with my index finger I wash her tongue and gums.
