WORRIED OUT OF MY MIND ABOUT MY DAUGHER AND WHAT I SHOULD DO HELP!?
May 11th
Question by :
worried out of my mind about my daugher and what i should do help!?
so i have been with my boyfreind for over a year and have been absolutely faithful the whole time and he swears he has too so unless one of us had it before our relationship and didnt know it idk how i would have it. but that is no longer important to me since i have gotten treated and my docter says im clear of it. i found out i had it because i am pregnant with my second child and at my 1st docters appointment my docter tested me for everything and said i had chlamydia and gave me a prescription. but what im worried about is i also have a 2 year old daughter and am worried about her because shes who i spend the most time with. i heard you can spread chlamydia through the eye but idk and she shares food and drink with me cuz shes my little girl. but also we share baths together which a lot of moms do with their babies or toddlers .
i am a single mother never had any help or anyone to give me a break to shower or rest when she was an infant first i would sit her in her baby chair in the lavatory while i showered but she’d cry her head off so my mother recommended taking her in with me just holding her. i did that but then my hands would get slippery trying to hold her and they were full so i couldnt wash myself so i began putting her in her infant tub while i showered. soon the shower would bother her so i switched to baths until she was about 1 and id wait till she slept to shower which i could do before because as an infant she didnt sleep long and any time she did i had to or else id never get any sleep. but now she just turned 2 and i wait till she sleeps to shower but occasionally shell want me 2 come in with her and i would. until recently when i found i i contracted chlamydia which i dont know how its possible. so i dont bath with her even though it was occasional but im afraid that the times i did when i didnt know anything was wrong with me she could have contracted it.
some say it can only be spread through sexual contact besides the eye. but if we shared bathwater couldnt the water carry it from me to her? were speaking about bathwater so the disease could just be sitting in there and then were both sitting in there. i want to make sure she doesnt have it i want my baby to be healthy and be able to have children in the future so i dont want to ignore it like oh she cant have it you can only get it from sexual contact. because what if she might from the shared baths and spending so much time together.
im worried about telling her docter because i heard theyd immediantly rule it out as sexual abuse which is in no way possible i havnt let anyone near my babygirl not even my boyfreind for even a second and we dont live together so it is impossible and hes not that type of person anyway. how do i ask to get my daughter tested without them calling DSS or thinking someones abusing her which is not the case i am always with her and would never let anything happen to her.if it is true that you can only get it strictly from sexual contact then she does not have it but what about the shared bathwater when i had chlamydia and hadnt noticed until i became pregnant and went to my first appointment, and was with her all the time, and cleaned the crust from her eyes with my hands? i just want to make sure she is okay.
i feel guilty and i dont wanna rule it out if she did because what if she has it growing up for many years and dont know and me thinking she couldnt possibly. what do i do? could she have gotten that way? and how do i speak about it with my docter or even her docter? i just want everything to be gone and treated? when i first found out i felt dirty and like a diagnosis even tho i was faithful, i was afraid that if i even touched someone they would get it. but im treated now and protecteing myself always. but what about my 2 year old? help what do you think.

SHOULD I STAY HOME WITH THE KIDS?
Apr 16th
Question by tenaciousd:
Should I stay home with the kids?
Like most, I am in a profession that punishes women for taking time off this way. Taking just a year off, usually negates all your experience so its like starting over in the eyes of management who apparently got in that position by having no life. We will soon have an infant and a toddler and my husband would really like me to stay home until they are old enough for school. I only work part-time as it is and he has to watch the children when I work. I work just enough to keep from loosing anything I have earned. I hate my job (though I did not always) but I like most of my coworkers and the pay is good. I would love to stay home with the children but I paid a lot of money for my degrees and I will never pay off the loan if I do not work. My husband can pay all the bills but we will have to take a home equity loan to refinance our loans so he can pay those too.
In the past, my husband has expressed a negative attitude toward stay at home mothers saying they were either too stupid or too lazy to get a real job. He says he knows its not the case with me since I have always worked. Still I am not sure I like his attitude. I am thinking maybe he needs the experience of caring for both children and maybe doing a little cooking and cleaning this time around to get a full appreciation of what other people do. I certainly know what it feels like to have a stressful job but I do not think he knows what it feels like to do what he wants me to do. When he watched our 1 child he did totally nothing else so he knows about as much of what stay at home mothers do as a teenage babysitter. Or should I just be happy he’s not still trying to find a way to get me to do all the cooking, cleaning and childcare while still earning an income?

MY NEWBORN’S EYE IS ALL GUMMED UP. WHAT CAN I DO?
Feb 25th
Question by Sarah:
My newborn’s eye is all gummed up. What can I do?
She has a small amount of green/yellowish mucus that is coming out of her right eye. Her first physicians appointment is set for this Tuesday. She is looking around with it just fine, and doesn’t seem to be in any pain, so I think that the ER would be a bit overkill for this, and would put her in more danger than she is currently in by just needlessly exposing her to germs. I called the pediatrician that she is set up with, and they do not have a doc on call.
Have you ever dealt with this? Is it a big deal? How can I fix it, or at least keep it cleaned hygienically
Thanks!
Also… her eye is not red or discolored.

NEWBORN, HAPPY HOUR? ?
Jan 6th
Question by Jamie’s Mommy:
Newborn, Happy Hour? ?
Can you bring a newborn with you to a happy hour?
More info:
My husband and I love raw oysters (love love love…yummy) . Anyway this local sea-food restuarant (right on the water very pretty) has a happy hour that you can buy an oyster for 50cents a piece but only during happy hour (at the bar area) overwise they are $ 2-3 a piece. We eat like 12 oysters each so you can see it would save us a lot of money to go to the happy hour.
Anyway, the atmosphere at the place is nice (elegant)… its mostly business people, clean, no smoking, not like typical bar scene you see in movies.
is it legal to bring a newborn with you to the happy hour? i know they are granted in liquor stores but how about the bar area? shes only 8weeks and sleeps like a log during the day. theres not a single chance she will wake up, impossible, we can change her diaper during the day without her opening her eyes.
So she wont interrupt others but we are really not confortable leaving her with a sitter yet, we are protective of her. but we have not gone out in 3months.
tell me what you think, any experience with taking or seeing someone at a bar with a baby.
ok… in this bar people dont fight… i dont know what kind of bars people go to but… this bar is not loud and is very romantic- dim lights, quite (NO TV’s), candles on the table, fresh flowers. People are dressed nicely (no jeans..no t-shirts)
thank you for the great answers some of you wrote. i appreciate it. especially from those of you who have done this.
Daniells Mommy: no hard feelings, i comprehend that you have a different understanding of bars. I know the term “bar” can mean a lot of things.

HAS YOUR INFANT HAD SURGERY?
Nov 17th
Question by Cloth on Bum, Breastmilk in Tum!:
Has your infant had surgery?
My 8 mo will be having outpatient eye surgery next week. If your baby or young kiddo has had surgery, can you tell me what to anticipate as far as coming out of anesthesia, the first day or so, etc? Anything you wish you had known to expect? Any tips on keeping the carseat clean should he puke on the way home (which we’ve been told is likely)? How do you keep from going bonkers while your baby is in surgery? Anything you can tell me about your experience would be great.

INFANT ALLERGIES?
Oct 22nd
Question by TPsMom:
Infant Allergies?
My baby is 3 1/2 months old. The doc told us that she would not have noticeable allergies until at least 6 months. Her dad has terrible allergies. For the past month, her eyes have watered and swollen and she cannot get anywhere near the family dog. Is there anything I can give her safely to help her quit rubbing her eyes and sneezing. We keep the dog away from her, and I clean our carpet and furniture @ least once a week.
