Answer by Jill
Use a saline solution and a nose sucker to loosen and clear the mucus from his nasal passage and do it as often as possible. It might take a few days but it will work.

Question by tiny pink monkey is here:
How can I cleans my newborns nose from boogers without the turkey baster?
My tiny girl has a booger in her nose and it is compromising her breathing. I tried the tiny tool that looks like a turkey baster (Sorry do not know the name for it) and it does not work very well and makes my tiny girl very cranky. What are other solutions for me to clean her nose?

——————————————

Answer by AdamsMom Erin~Leah Coming Soon
Its called a nasal aspirator but turkey baster is a good description. Even a newborn can have some saline mist in the nose, spray a drop or two and let it sit for a second and it’ll loosen up the snot, way more will come out. Also, not all aspirators are created equal, the ones we took from the hospital are great and we still use them from time to time on my son whose 2 and has chronic allergies, whereas we got one in a red cross first aid kit that is not worth a damn. It might be worth your time to look for one with a nice soft bulb.
Congrats on your tiny girl!

Answer by Nikki
i use baby q-tips, twirl it around the edges of the nostril it will get all the boogers out. But the baby doesn’t like it just as much as the turkey baster.

Answer by Barbara H
saline spray from walmart. i know the name brand is ‘little noses’, but there is an off brand that works just as well. spray this in the nostril, let it set for a while, and it will soften everything up a bit. then you can try sucking them out again with the nasal aspirator (turkey baster) or, if you have long nails, try reaching your tiny finger nail in there to gently pluck it out.

——————————————

Answer by Nutritional Counselor
nope, unless he is having difficulty breathing. Babies sneeze lots and that is the way they clear their noses.
Putting things up his nose might cause irritation or push things further up.
Let him be and pay attention to how he feels and what he does.

Question by catt:
Question about cleaning your baby’s nose?
I am re-wording this question and posting it again since I didnt’ get any answers — sorry if I offended anyone with the word “boogers”.

They state (if have read and pediatrician said) that the nose is self-cleaning. My baby boy has at least 2 or 3 huge gooey boogies in there per day and I get them out with the aspirator. If I didnt’ get them out where would they go. I never seen one come out on it’s own ever. So if I never take them out where would they go? Do your tiny ones noses clean themselves?

ps — he adores when I do it because he smiles and holds his head still so that I can get them out. I must tickle him.

——————————————

Answer by stixy_stixy
I have no clue. I have heard of moms sucking them out. This does not sound pleasant or tasty to me. So I would advocate doing whatever works for you and your baby.

——————————————
