Question by Robyn:
Newborn nose cleaned?

What age is it ok to clean my baby’s nose out with an aspirator and saline drops? He is 1 month

——————————————

Answer by Nutritional Counselor
nope, unless he is having difficulty breathing. Babies sneeze lots and that is the way they clear their noses.
Putting things up his nose might cause irritation or push things further up.
Let him be and pay attention to how he feels and what he does.

HOW DO YOU CLEAN YOUR INFANT’S NOSE? http://birthpolicy.org/353/how-do-you-clean-your-infants-nose/ http://birthpolicy.org/353/how-do-you-clean-your-infants-nose/#comments Wed, 10 Nov 2010 18:48:07 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/353/how-do-you-clean-your-infants-nose/ Question by Das :
How do you clean your infant’s nose?

I have an aspirator to clean my baby’s nose, but that is only good for the wet stuff. The aspirator does not get rid of that dry stuff. How do you ‘pick your baby’s nose’?

Answer by Dylan aka Dilly
With my pinky nail for the crumbly stuff and the snot sucker for the wet & gooey lol

QUESTION ABOUT CLEANING YOUR BABY’S NOSE? http://birthpolicy.org/260/question-about-cleaning-your-babys-nose/ http://birthpolicy.org/260/question-about-cleaning-your-babys-nose/#comments Fri, 29 Oct 2010 07:53:50 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/260/question-about-cleaning-your-babys-nose/ Question by catt:
Question about cleaning your baby’s nose?

I am re-wording this question and posting it again since I didnt’ get any answers — sorry if I offended anyone with the word “boogers”.

They state (if have read and pediatrician said) that the nose is self-cleaning. My baby boy has at least 2 or 3 huge gooey boogies in there per day and I get them out with the aspirator. If I didnt’ get them out where would they go. I never seen one come out on it’s own ever. So if I never take them out where would they go? Do your tiny ones noses clean themselves?

ps — he adores when I do it because he smiles and holds his head still so that I can get them out. I must tickle him.

I have no clue. I have heard of moms sucking them out. This does not sound pleasant or tasty to me. So I would advocate doing whatever works for you and your baby.

WHY DO BABIES CRY WHEN YOU WIPE THEIR NOSE? http://birthpolicy.org/75/why-do-babies-cry-when-you-wipe-their-nose/ http://birthpolicy.org/75/why-do-babies-cry-when-you-wipe-their-nose/#comments Fri, 20 Aug 2010 08:35:23 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/75/why-do-babies-cry-when-you-wipe-their-nose/ Question by Q&A Gal:
Why do babies cry when you wipe their nose?

I just find it odd that a baby cries when you clean their nose. I am speaking about when it’s done and their is no pain involved.

Answer by notfromaround_here
when you come at an infant with a tissue- you should think about how huge that tissue looks to the kid– you are invading their space and coming at them fast…
