Question by Soso:
Bathing babies?
How often should I be bathing my 8 month old baby? I obviously clean her face and bottom each day but bathe her each other day as I was told that the water dries out their skin easily, a friends of mine was shocked and stated I should be bathing her at least each day, is this right?
I mean aren’t their natural oils superior than baby lotions, which are artificialand full of chemicals?

——————————————

Answer by deann_lyn
Every other day is perfect. Keep up the good work Mom. : )

Answer by nyce_2fresh
yes bathe them each day b/c babies are supposed to smell good. anice warm bath w/ johnsons baby wash will work, in a sink or a baby bathtub. them moisturize w/ baby lotion. that why they make baby lotion, so baby’s skin wont dry out after a bath

Answer by br549
Yeah, put her in the dishwasher at night, will get her clean and dry!

Just kidding of course. I would bathe her daily. Use a mild baby soap and the lotion after drying.

Question by Caleb kisses Momma w/that mouth!:
Mums does bathing your baby at night help them sleep longer?
All the mommies out there, does bathing your tiny one at night help them sleep through the night? I have been giving my 11 week old baths in the morning from the beginning and he doesn’t sleep for longer than 3 hour incriments at night, I am just looking for ways to get him to sleep longer. Will changing his bathing routine help? I have been hearing recently that baths rest babies before bed? Any experience with this? Thanks in advance!

Answer by redmama of 2.5 <3
YES IT STILL WORKS WITH MY 4YR OLD

Answer by maraschino
I think a lot of it has to do with routine, but I did bathe my baby at night and he slept just fine. If you have concerns, you might want to check with your pediatrician.

Answer by Ophelia_Ogaard
It worked for my daughter for quite some time. I would bathe her right before bed and she would sleep through the night. Unfortunately just recently that stopped and it takes her 2+ hours to go to sleep after being put down now. She is now 7 months.

Question by Kristy:
How often should you bathe an infant with eczema?
I have a six week old son with eczema. I bathe him each night. Should I be bathing him each other night? His eczema seems to be getting worse and I am not sure of proper treatment for eczema. What kind of lotion is ideal for eczema? I have tried Johnsons, Aveeno Baby, Palmer’s, and am currently using Euceran Calming Creme which was suggested by a friend.

——————————————

Answer by jayjay7717
i’d state each other day, it might be a tiny superior on his skin

Answer by Luv my children 4evr
I have a tiny boy with severe eczema and we were told by our pediatrician to treat it with Hydrocortizone (sp?) cream applied to the affected area twice a day. We only bath him each 2 days and only for about 5-10 minutes. Frequent bathing removes the natural oils from the skin which can cause eczema to become worse. We also use a cool mist humidifier in his room to help keep his skin hydrated. Oh and after a bath make sure you moisturize his skin within 5 minutes of taking him out so he doesn’t dry out too much. You can also use baby oil in the bath water.

EDIT:
Also switch to a baby safe washing detergent and do not use any fabric softener or dryer sheets.

Answer by Mama Tried
I get eczema on my hands each now and then and putting them in water (bathing my son, washing dishes, etc.) makes it much worse. I would go to bathing each other day or 2 days in between baths until it clears up because the water always irritates mine and makes it hurt. Also, a cortisone cream helps clear it up quickly. Call your pediatrician and ask them which one the recommend.

okay I could not find a link, but I use the 1% hydrocortisone cream and it clears up in a couple days.

——————————————
5 yr old obviously doesn’t do that anymore. It’s just so much easier and saves a lot of water and gas (gas hot water tank).

Answer by jessimshepp
No, but it looks really great. I wish I knew how to get one in the US, mabe my daughter would like taking baths then.
I just found it on eBay. You can also try the Prince Lionheart washPOD

Question by ***Alyssa’s mommy (7/11/08):
How to soothe newborn during bathing
(almost 3 wks)

Whether it is a sponge bath or in her tub she hates baths!

She screams and cries hysterically, kicking a flailing about, I feel guilty
when I bathe her because she acts like she is being tortured and I hate
seeing her so upset!

(I bathe her twice a week) Should I try more often to set her in a routine? What routines or soothing techniques have worked for you?

——————————————

Answer by “Obber”
Have you or Daddy tried taking her in the bathtub with you?

Answer by Ava’s Mommy
My daughter was the exact same way. I purchased a “Euro” Tub from Toys R Us. She absolutly LOVES her baths now. I have been using it since she was 2 weeks and she is now 3 months. More than likely your daughter just hates to be cold- as all babies hate it.

Answer by Mommy of 2
First make sure she is warm a lot of babies cry bc they are cold! You could try to give them more frequently to help her get used to it…We always did it after a bottle to help to keep our babies calm….And also be swift get her in clean her and get her out!!! That might help…good luck!!

Question by xoxo – knm:
When did you begin bathing your baby everyday?
My baby will be 7 weeks here on Tuesday. I have been bathing him each other day. I was sponge bathing him but just started putting him in his baby tub in sink last week and it is so much better. So, I was wondering when did you begin bathing your baby each day instead of each other?

——————————————

Answer by Bag
Never. There is no need for it.

Answer by Bluegirl
I still bathe my kids each few days. There is no need to bathe a baby or child each day. They loose essential oils in skin and hair that they need.
One of my kids was very ill as a child and was unable to bathe for two weeks. Its ok.

Answer by •°o Poker Girl •°o
My son is 7 months and I still do not everyday. I give him a bath ever other day. He gets messy now with the baby food and he plays on the floor so I give him one sometimes each day.

But at 7 weeks you dont need to do that everyday

——————————————
