Baby Oral Hygiene
A FEW QUESTIONS ABOUT BABY’S FIRST TEETH?
Dec 16th
Question by Leah’s Mommy:
A few questions about baby’s first teeth?
My 7 month old has a little tiny white bump on her gums this morning so she finally got her first tooth! Yay!
1. How long after the first bottom tooth poked through did the second one come in? She has one on the bottom so far.
2. It’s literally a little white bump, but when can I brush it? I am a huge stickler about oral hygiene. And if I do brush it, do I even need toothpaste? And do I do it twice a day?

WHY IS IT THAT SO MANY PEOPLE ON HERE GIVE THE ADVICE THAT TODDLERS DON’T NEED TO BRUSH THEIR TEETH?
Jan 5th
Question by Alison:
Why is it that so many people on here give the advice that toddlers do not need to brush their teeth?
I have read post after post where people are are telling moms or caregivers not to worry about brushing their children teeth until they are 3-4 years old!! To me that’s just CRAZY! Baby teeth should be taken care of too- so what if they are replaced later with permanent teeth! Who wants their children teeth to rot?? Plus instruct them young about good oral hygiene.
I just hate to think that there are parents out there who do not brush their children teeth! I would feel so guilty taking care of mine and not taking care of my helpless toddler’s teeth!
What a shame!
It’s mostly on questions where a parent is having a difficult time getting the kid to cooperate when people jump on the ‘they do not need them brushed’ or ‘they are too young’ band wagon.
I like to help out on those questions because my daughter was very difficult when it came to teeth brushing too. But she loves it now.
It just surprises me at some of the responses.

IS IT ALRIGHT TO LET A 11 MONTH OLD BABY BOTTLE FEED HERSELF TO SLEEP, IN HER CRIB, WITH FORMULA MILK?
Jan 5th
Question by nixodian:
is it alright to let a 11 month old baby bottle feed herself to sleep, in her crib, with formula milk?
the reason l ask is concern for her oral hygiene. She has sprouted two bottom front baby teeth and 2 upper ones are sprouting now. The milk formula does contain sugar l think.
l will start to clean her teeth with a clean gauze soon (any video sites showing you how to use it to clean baby’s teeth would be great) she almost always falls asleep drinking the formula milk herself.
Lastly, when should a baby toothbrush be introduced and l assume no toothpaste is used?
thanks in advance
