Temperature in Babies

Check The Temperature Of A Newborn Baby?
My sister has a 3 week old baby and its her first baby. She tells me this day that her baby feels little warm so she sent her boyfriend out to get a thermometer to make sure the baby is not running a fever. Well i ask her if they know what kind of a thermometer to get. I explain to her there are ones for the forehead, ears, armpits etc…
She then proceeds to tell me that her physician instructed her to check the babies temperature from the back of the neck. My question is have you ever heard of checking the temperature from the back of the neck and when babies are wearing clothing and always lying down would not the back of the neck be naturally warmer than the rest of the body?
I could be mistaken here but i have never in my life heard of checking a babies temperature from the back of the neck and i have 4 kids, i was always told that with babies as young as hers(3 weeks) the only accurate temperature is rectally.
Can anyone provide any links or something to show that the back of the neck is something that is common practice?
i should also add that someone bought her these sleepers with thermometers built into them and she said the thermometers were registering that her child was warm, and i recommended she not rely on those as they aren’t accurate because the baby was wearing an undershirt, sleeper and then wrapped in a blanket which gives a false reading. I told her if the baby felt warm to either decrease the temperature of her apartment by 1or2 degrees or take the baby out of the sleeper and put on a thinner sleeper without the blanket.
