SHAKEN BABY SYNDROME … 2 MONTH OLD?
May 17th
Question by :
Shaken baby syndrome … 2 month old?
hi. I have a 2 mnth old baby girl. I worry about SBS sometimes with my baby. I try not to bounce her too hard, and to protect her head. But she is like a bobble head! Always whipping her head around and I try to keep her head stablized but there are times when we pick her up that she just whips her head around before you get ur hand behind her head. My question is … What force is dangerous? I am a worrier normally but having a newborn amplifies it! I just want my baby to be safe!

HAS EVERYONE ON HERE FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE DANGERS OF SHAKEN BABY SYNDROME……?
Feb 16th
Question by juniormintsrock:
has everyone on here forgotten about the dangers of shaken baby syndrome……?
this man asks a question…..
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070329101438AAhm9TI&r=w&pa=FZptHWf.BGRX3OFMhjFUWE8g4xNUdoJmQ25sBipT22hBWdBdDLf6JZYqbZhH023V8fnNTg9POKTtgBHkdQ–&paid=answered#RsQnWTe5VzDNrzlPGnvUcejoVepvyv7klwL0GizU.J16nKcdg5Ks
And almost every one of the answers alluded to his not being a man for being unable to handle the noise and crying of an infant. Have you all forgotten that one of the leading causes in brain damage and death in infants is from shaken baby syndrome, which generally occurs when a parent or caregiver cannot handle the excessive crying of a baby? Those of you who think, oh well I have never had that problem, yay for you, but some people do not have the tools to deal with that, instead of putting someone down for honestly saying they can’t handle something maybe we should give information and help that person find a resource to develop those tools. Or am I just insane for thinking that we should help infants in these situations?

Congratulations to every single one of you in the linked question who offered your lovely brand of advice, you could have just possibly succeeded in keeping this man and his child from getting the help they may need.
Even if it was not a serious question, it is a serious matter, not everyone gave bad answers, but for those of you who did….hope it made you feel better.
I seriously hope none of you have to deal with the horror that comes from being a mom or dad of a shaken baby……
He never once in his question said he did not want to take care of the baby, he asked for help, not judgment and insults, even though can you really anticipate much more from the majority of morons on Answers?

QUESTION ABOUT BABY SHAKEN SYNDROME AND A CAR?
Jan 1st
Question by Stephanie:
Question about baby shaken syndrome and a car?
I have an older automobile and it’s quite bumpy at times, bad suspension or something. But I was wondering if I should be worried about baby shaken syndrome when my infant is in the back seat? She’s in a automobile seat and everything but when I was in the back seat with her one day while my husband was driving I saw her head kindof bumping around, can this cause that or no? I do not know if I am just being paranoid.
Only serious answers please, I am concerned and really want to know.

CAR ACCIDENT AT LESS THAN 30MPH WITH A 3 MONTH OLD INFANT… COULD SHAKEN BABY SYNDROME OCCUR?
Oct 3rd
Question by The Dutchess:
Car accident at less than 30mph with a 3 month old infant… could shaken baby syndrome occur?
Some research on child learning disabilities for a college class got me to thinking about shaken baby syndrome.
When my daughter was 3 months old we were rear ended. I was sitting a a dead stop, and some 18 year old was not paying attention and went right into the back of us. My daughter was nestled in her automobile seat as she should have been, facing the rear. The hit was hard enough that I my head almost hit the steering wheel and then the head rest. The police estimated he hit me at less than 30 mph. The airbags did not deploy.
I can not believe I had not thought of this before, but could my daughter have experienced shaken baby syndrome due to this accident?
What are the mild signs of SBS?
If not at risk for SBS, should I be worried about any other effects this automobile accident could have had on her, and I would not know until later in the school years?
Thanks.
I need to clarify:
This happened months ago, my daughter is 10 months old… and seems fine! I was just thinking in terms of anything that could have happened that I could not see physically.
When the impact happened, she was sleeping, and did not even wake up until her older sisters (who were sleeping) started crying from waking on impact. I was not hit dead on in the back, he swerved, and hit more like my left back corner.
there was no hospital visit, and the police listed us all as having no injuries in the police report. We were ok… I guess I am now having second thoughts about the impact and how incredibly fragile a 3 month old’s brain is.
I feel like a crappy mother.

Jul 4th
Question by Samantha S:
My son had gotten shaken baby syndrome while in the care of his father.?
My son was diagnosed with shaken baby syndrome. Once this was established children youth and services stepped in and took both my son and my daughter. this was in feb of last yr. I have been doing everything they asked me to like parenting evaluations psychiatrist’s etc. the judge finally ruled my children father to 22- 44 months in prison. Now im still trying to get my children back. they are in a foster family because no one in my family could take them. Now they want to put my children up for adoption! Ive had positive feedback from every appointment i go to. i am now 9 weeks pregnant and my case worker threatened to to take my newborn baby too when she is born. For no reason! i have no criminal history im not a drug addict or alcoholic. I do suffer from very high anxiety and depression, since all of this has occur ed! my son was 4 months old when his father did this and now hes 15 months! and my daughter just turned 3! i have an attorney and she told me to just go along with anything C.y.s wants me to do! but im not going to let them put them up for adoption! i have court coming on the 28th for a permanency hearing! im so nervous! and i do not even know why they want to do this to me! im stable i have everything my children need and more im a loving mother!all i did was let there father watch them one night and this happens! at first C.y.s tried charging me for perpetrator by omission but the judge ruled that out! ive done there services and they still wont help me get my children back!!!! im at a loss. im trying to stay positive but its extremely hard. i have visitations only once a week and it drives me crazy to see them cry when they have to leave! my daughter doesn’t comprehend why she cant stay at home with mommy. i think about them 24/7 and i feel there’s nothing i can do! no one gives me answers tow hat i can do. i will fight though and never sign adoption papers. but C.y.s told me they can do it without my consent!!! i just do not comprehend why the feel they have the power to tear my family apart my children are my world i feel as if i have no heart anymore! im constantly sad and i cant sleep at night anymore! if you have any answers that would help me on how to get my children back home please let me know im at a complete loss!
Well first, Yes i am handling my stress and anxiety i go to a therapist every week. I am trying to stay healthy and yes that makes sense that if im not healthy i would not be any good to my children BUT the thing is once i get them home i know emotionally and mentally i would feel a ton better!!! i am a single mother and they are EVERYTHING to me. I miss hearing there laughter and i miss all the little things like waking up and making them breakfast! i miss holding them and comforting them! cys knows i am a good parent! my home is under control i’m a very clean person and my children have always had everything they’ve ever needed! and YES i was not home when it happened that is why he got charged and is now sitting in prison! my children and i are the ones suffering from all this! they deserve to be with me and i will not stop fighting for them. Thank you for the positive responses. I have wrote in a journal everything that has happened my appts. my goals that were met and conversations. i wil
