Question by mac:
Does an infant get immuntity from an infectious disease (e.g. measles) from a vaccinated mother?

Immunity is given to a child if the mom survived the disease, but how about if she never got life-long immunity?

What is the difference between baby measles and measles?

My ideal friend just called and stated her 6 month old son might possibly have measles. They were at Disney World last week and that is where his physician feels he caught them. She is distraught and has been reading up on the subject and wanted to know the diiference between the two.

ARE MEASLES AND MUMPS TREATABLE IN YOUNG CHILDREN/BABIES IF THEY GET IT? http://birthpolicy.org/374/are-measles-and-mumps-treatable-in-young-childrenbabies-if-they-get-it/ http://birthpolicy.org/374/are-measles-and-mumps-treatable-in-young-childrenbabies-if-they-get-it/#comments Wed, 10 Nov 2010 18:48:58 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/374/are-measles-and-mumps-treatable-in-young-childrenbabies-if-they-get-it/ Question by abc123:
Are measles and mumps treatable in young children/babies if they get it?

If a child is not vaccinated, or a child IS vaccinated and still gets measles or mumps, is this treatable? I know that kids die from measles and mumps and vaccinates can prevent this, but does that mean there is nothing you can do if your child does get it and they are most likely doomed to die?

Answer by dougal
Our son developed measles at a very young age and was really ill, he then developed complications and it is my firm belief that had he NOT had the vaccinations we would have lost him.

Answer by mum of 2
Yes baby’s can get anything even when they have been immunised my son got phnumococcle meningitis after he was immunized against it. Immunisations are not a guarantee by all means but they just help to prevent it.

WHAT ARE SYMPTOMS OF MEASLES IN BABIES? http://birthpolicy.org/58/what-are-symptoms-of-measles-in-babies/ http://birthpolicy.org/58/what-are-symptoms-of-measles-in-babies/#comments Fri, 20 Aug 2010 08:25:22 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/58/what-are-symptoms-of-measles-in-babies/ Question by Sondra:
What are symptoms of measles in babies?

Christmas eve we went to my mother n laws. Well Christmas night my nephew broke out with measles. So of course me I am a 1st time mother of a 5 nearly 6 month old baby am freaking out. His physician told me nothing he can do till he gets it but I read on the web otherwise Well now its been 6 days and I am still worried. He is not acting sick in any way just sleeping alot. But I dont know if that just because he is fixing to go through a growth spur or what. Please help. What to look for?? I am a new mother and do not know much about babys. What should I look for and how is it got.And any other info ya can give me.

Answer by Momof2Girlz
Did he break out all over? Measles is highly contagious, so keep your baby away from your nephew. If he hasn’t broken out yet, I think it’s safe to state he is not going to get it, as long as you keep him away from your nephew, including yourself or anyone who hasn’t been vaccinated for it. Just keep an eye on him. The break out will begin from the head and work it’s way out. It would itch, too. My one year old just got vaccinated for measles and had a reaction to it- like a mild version of measles. Hers cleared up in a few days though. Hope I helped!
