Question by Mommy!:
newborn and baby what are the odds of us getting rubella or measules?
On the news we have 3 cases of rubella in my say I had the Mmr shot when I was 1 and 4. My son had the shot at 13 1/2 months now I am paranoid because my son was diagnosed with reosola a few days ago but there is not a test for it and you will not know you have it until the rash appears and that’s where my son is and the photos for reosola and rubella look just alike he has had this rash since Mon its now late sat I was sick for 3 days but never got a fever I do not think just a headache, runny and stopped up nose kinda sore throat my fear is for my unborn children. Help!!!!! What should I do his rash looks bad and there is not a spot of his body that doesnt have the spots I know there is not a reason to rush him to the er because theres not a cure for rubella or measles or even reosola

MEASLES OUTBREAK/HOW TO KEEP NEWBORN SAFE?
Jan 5th
Question by Steban L:
Measles outbreak/how to keep newborn safe?
I received a letter from my children’s insurance company this day that states: “There is a measles outbreak in Arizona…All of the people infected so far did not have their measles shot.
…the health department is recommending that children in your area get their measles shots earlier than usual. Kids who are 12 months of age or older need 2 measles shots now instead of waiting until they are school age.
Measles is a serious disease that is simple to catch and can cause pneumonia, brain infections, and sometimes death…
So my 5 year old has to get her 2nd shot a year early, and my 16 month old has to get both of his shots years ahead of schedule. I am 34 wks pregnant, and was vaccinated as a young child. Can I be checked for immunity? (Not German Measles, I am immune to that, but regular Measles). If I am immune, will that immunity pass to my newborn when she is born? Will any immunity she gets from me keep her safe until she’s 12 months old?
No, my daughter had one shot, and needs a 2nd and my son had none, (he is up to date on all others) and will get the measles shot next Wed. The newspapers say young children are at risk because it spreads so easily, and their immune systems are weaker, so these side effects of measles do apply to them, especially my 16 mo old and the baby when she’s born.
