DO YOU THINK I MIGHT HAVE IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME? http://birthpolicy.org/284/do-you-think-i-might-have-irritable-bowel-syndrome/ http://birthpolicy.org/284/do-you-think-i-might-have-irritable-bowel-syndrome/#comments Fri, 29 Oct 2010 07:54:23 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/284/do-you-think-i-might-have-irritable-bowel-syndrome/ Question by hopeful:
Do you think I might have irritable bowel syndrome?

Ok, so I know I have to have a DR diagnosis me, but I cannot until my baby is born(I’m pregnant currently). I just want your advice on if what I have been experiencing is IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) or not. I have been expreiencing these symptoms for a long time and realize that there must be something wrong with me. Since March 2003 I have had the following symptoms: diarrhea (mostly diarrhea), cramps, constipation (on occasion), stomach gurgling, relief after passing stools from pain, bowel movements frequency range from less than 3 a week (constpation) to 2-3(sometimes not that often, but has even been more than 3 times a day on occasion) times a day (diarreha) and when I have went a long time from a bowel movement when I finally do go it is usually diarreha. The symptoms mentioned often occur after stressful situations/stress menstruation or after a massive meal other times have been random occurrences.

I have read that trama can cause IBS so here are some things that have happened to me: I had a very bad childhood(age 7-18), at age 15 I got food poiosning (vomited until green bile came up), I had my 1st miscarraige (I’ve had 6 miscarraiges total in my life) at age 19, during basic training for the military I noticed my symptoms (diarreha) beginning, I had a breast bioposy done to remove to non-cancerous cysts at age 20, while pregnant w/my 1st child (had her at age 21) during my last trimester I had (diarreha the most severe range for me 2nd-3rd trimester) by taking potassium pills (over the counter) noticed a decrease in symptoms (diarrhea).

Well, I think that covers all of my medical history with the IBS symptoms or trama that could have caused me to get this is concerned for the most part. Any and all advice is welcome (please do not be rude or make fun of me) thanks!!
Also the diarreha usualy lasts 2-5 days out of the week. This week has been 3 days out of the week so far and ranged 1-2 times in the day (2 times was today).
I had another diarreha episode this day after some stress, so I definatly think I have a problem.

COULD I HAVE IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME? http://birthpolicy.org/208/could-i-have-irritable-bowel-syndrome/ http://birthpolicy.org/208/could-i-have-irritable-bowel-syndrome/#comments Fri, 22 Oct 2010 05:25:05 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/208/could-i-have-irritable-bowel-syndrome/ Question by JadeNolis:
Could I have irritable bowel syndrome?

I am CONSTANTLY in the bathroom. At first I was thinking that it was just my period. But I have been keeping a closer eye on it, and it seems to be all the time. I have not changed my diet at all. The only difference in anything is that I had a baby in December. But this did not begin until February or March. Could it be IBS all of a sudden?
I have no medical insurance.

Get to the doctor, because if it’s IBS and you are not getting treated you could be doing more damage. And seeing how you have got a tiny one to take care of, I know you want to be healthy for them.
——————————————–
EDIT:
I’m sorry you do not have medical insurance, but what is more important, being able to raise your child or not being there for them at all?

I recommend you go through the phone book and find a free clinic if necessary. You cannot play around with this. If it was not worrying you you would not have posted the question.

Look, I am not trying to be a b about it. I comprehend not having health insurance, I lived without it for more than 30 years. But, when it’s something this serious you have got to find a way. Obamacare is not going to kick in for at least another 3 years. And that is if it is not repealed.

If you are in the lavatory constantly, you are body is losing a lot of nutrients it needs. Why? What are the consequences of what is happening? Do you have IBS? Chrons? Or is it a sing of something even more serious?

This poll doesn’t really seem appropriate here. The Yahoo Answers is to ask A question. If you are doing research for a paper, then say that and look elsewhere.
Additional opinions? Babies are biologically engineered to digest nothing but breastmilk. Human milk for human babies.
