Question by elsi119:
Can a baby get their immunizations earlier than scheduled?

I’m planning a trip in January, my baby got her two month shots on Dec. 1st. Is it necessary for her to get her shots on Feb. 1st or could I get them a week or two earlier?

Answer by Amanda
I think in most states, by law they have to be the exact age to get them, you might be able to get them alittle later, like when you come back from vacation. Check with your Dr.

WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF A NEWBORN GETTING MULTIPLE HEPB VACS W/IN 24 HOURS? http://birthpolicy.org/460/what-are-the-effects-of-a-newborn-getting-multiple-hepb-vacs-win-24-hours/ http://birthpolicy.org/460/what-are-the-effects-of-a-newborn-getting-multiple-hepb-vacs-win-24-hours/#comments Sat, 13 Nov 2010 03:41:05 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/460/what-are-the-effects-of-a-newborn-getting-multiple-hepb-vacs-win-24-hours/ Question by mariacunning:
What are the effects of a newborn getting multiple HepB vacs w/in 24 hours?

My son was born on 1/27 that same day he received a HepB vac (standard for all newborns according to the WHO). The nurse did not record giving it to him. I was there when she gave it to him and received an immunization record. The next afternoon, another nurse came in saying she had just given him the same vac and handed me another immunization record. The attending MD was not worried, BUT *I* am concerned about any possible future or long term effects.

I have had trouble finding info regarding this type of circumstance. The information I have found is regarding the *correct* way (schedule) to provide the immunizations. Any information regarding multiple doses (w/in 24 hours of eachother) of HepB vacs in newborns that you can provide will be appreciated.

Thanks,
M

If you do not see any side effects count your blessings. We still do not know if that is the reason our 8 year old son (developmentall under 1) Has the problems he has. He is adopted and his mom tested hep B positive at birth so he was given I belive 2 mega hep B vacines plus I think a regular one also.

QUESTION ABOUT THE PERTUSSIS SHOT FOR MY BABY? http://birthpolicy.org/436/question-about-the-pertussis-shot-for-my-baby/ http://birthpolicy.org/436/question-about-the-pertussis-shot-for-my-baby/#comments Wed, 10 Nov 2010 18:50:13 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/436/question-about-the-pertussis-shot-for-my-baby/ Question by mbk:
Question about the Pertussis shot for my baby?

I’ve heard that you cannot get the Pertussis shot individually, that you have to get it as a combined shot (DPT) Is that true?

I have my baby on a delayed and spread out immunization schedule and want to get each of these three Diptheria, Pertussis, and Tetnus separately, but now I am worried I can’t. What do you guys know?

my baby had 3 days earlier for immunisation schedule?

my baby had 3 days earlier for her 4 month immunisation on her schedule. is this okay?
she became fussy after having the injection and her temperature is pretty high (37.3 C)
i wanted to take her to after hour gp but my mum told me it’s pretty normal as it’s a reaction from the injection (she’s a GP anyway).

should i be aware with this? i’m so sad seeing her being fussy and lost appetite like this, (she’s fully breastfeeding)

please help me.

Answer by Nimbus
Three days early is fine. It is common for babies to have a raised temp after imm’s – it is just the body’s immune system responding. They can be a tiny feverish and irritable as well. You can give her paracetamol to make her more comfortable, and reduce her temperature. As long as her temp doesn’t get up to 39-40, she will be fine – just keep an eye on her, and do not overdress her if she is hot. She might want a bit more reassurance, and might want to feed more often. She will probably be back to normal tomorrow. Hang in there – I know it is hard!

What is the schedule for physician visits for a newborn?

How soon after the baby goes home am I supposed to take her to her pediatrician? I have a list of immunizations and the age they are to be given, but after I take her home when do I take her to the doctor? I have a 12 y.o. but my mom did all that stuff so I have no idea.

Answer by Jennifer Lynn
Usually they have to go back w/in a couple days of being out of the hospital and then again at the one month, two month, four month, 6 month and more…the physicians will set you up.

CAN 2 MONTHS BABY ACCEPT THE INJECTION IN ONE IMMUNIZATIONS SCHEDULE? http://birthpolicy.org/165/can-2-months-baby-accept-the-injection-in-one-immunizations-schedule/ http://birthpolicy.org/165/can-2-months-baby-accept-the-injection-in-one-immunizations-schedule/#comments Fri, 01 Oct 2010 17:41:45 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/165/can-2-months-baby-accept-the-injection-in-one-immunizations-schedule/ Question by ALct:
Can 2 months baby accept the injection in one immunizations schedule?

Can 1st triple antigen (DPT) vaccines, Oral / IM polio vaccines, Hib vaccines, 1st Pneumococcal vaccines & 1st Rotavirus vaccines in one-time immunizations? Any harm to baby?
Or should it separated into many times instead of one-shot?

——————————————

Answer by Dr. Arun Kumar Suri
Today combination of vaccines is commonly used. One combination contains DPT, Hepatitis B and Hib. This is commonly used and is well tolerated by babies. Pneumococcal vaccine and Rotavirus vaccine are not routinely suggested in all countries. You need to discuss this with your Pediatrician.

Why are infants required to receive a vaccine for mennigitis in Alberta when there were only 4 cases?

My infant is still very sick a week later, even without the MMR…will I have to home school my child now if I do not continue with the scheduled immunizations?

——————————————

Answer by mandy007
There were probably only 4 cases because all kids are getting the vaccine….. If they weren’t, there would be MANY more cases. Why risk it?

EDIT: I work with Autistic kids and there is ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF that vaccines cause Autism, NONE.

ALTERNATE VACCINE SCHEDULE FOR THEIR BABY? http://birthpolicy.org/54/alternate-vaccine-schedule-for-their-baby/ http://birthpolicy.org/54/alternate-vaccine-schedule-for-their-baby/#comments Fri, 20 Aug 2010 08:06:01 +0000 admin http://birthpolicy.org/54/alternate-vaccine-schedule-for-their-baby/ Question by CM:
Alternate vaccine schedule for their baby?

Hello,
My baby is 2 mos now and he is due for his first set of vaccines on Friday. I am a tiny concerned about having him receive all 6 shots at one time (based on the CDC 2009 Child & Adolescent Immunization Schedules). I am interested to learn what others have done as an alternate schedule, or learn what their pediatricians have recommended.
Thanks!

——————————————

Answer by I luv’s my bub’s
they do not have 6 shots! they have 2 needles with 3 kinds of vaccine in each, they put one in each leg.
