What are the chances of us having a baby with down syndrome?
My husband has two brothers, one of them has down syndrome. We currently had a miscarriage in September. The physician did not know why but it was possible that it was a baby with down sydrome. He was not for sure but he said it COULD have been a possibility as to why we lost that baby. We are now trying for baby #2, what are the statistics and the chances that our child and all of our kids in the near future will have down sydrome?

My husband is a special education instructor and we often speak about how parents feel about the situation of their children. It is not simple for some of these parents and I think sometimes society misunderstands these people. As a healthy person, I would only hope that my child comes into this world healthy, too. Personally, I would not abort unless there would be something really wrong, but if its just a physical or mental disability I belief everyone has a right to live. But, what is your take on this. i had a miscarriage at 17 weeks last year and i was later informed the baby had down syndrome. Trisomy 21. They said it was a random event and there was nothing wrong with our genes. I am now 10 weeks pregnant again and very scared.
