ALLERGIC COLITIS IN BREASTFED INFANT HELP!?
Feb 9th
Question by Loveiseverything1313:
Allergic colitis in breastfed infant help!?
My 5 month old has allergic colitis to something in my breastmil and had passed bloody stools. I took her to physician but he said she’s allergic to breastmilk! STUPID and ingnorant! She can only be allergic to something in the bm. Ever since I have stopped cows milk (however cows milk allergy test was negative) it’s gotten superior but only stopped since a weeks. She still has blood in her stools. I do not want to give her formula because we would not find out what allergy she has. How can I keep breastfeeding? Does it take longer for colitis to go down? What can I do? I also have to give her iron because of her anemia and the iron causes more problems like belly pain and constipation.

I’D LIKE A DOCTOR’S NOTE TO BE TAKEN OFF OF WORK?
Dec 21st
Question by :
I’d like a doctor’s note to be taken off of work?
I’m 30 weeks pregnant and am in a program which requires me to search for a job 30 hours a week, 15 of those hours I have to spend volunteering at the salvation army (carrying boxes, putting things away, taking trash out, etc.). I told them I am 30 weeks pregnant, but they do not really seem to care and sometimes the things I have to lift are quite heavy. I have Anemia, which makes it hard for me to do things a lot, because I faint pretty frequently and I still have morning sickness. I am 30 weeks pregnant and would like to be taken off of work within the next month so I can prepare for the birth of my baby. I have been so busy with all this crap that I have not had time to take any classes and really do not know much about labor or the birth process and I need some time to learn about it before baby comes. It’s getting hard for me to do things, but I can’t see my physician taking me off of work. The note can’t say I am requesting to be off of work, it just has to say that she is taking me off of work. I really do not know what to do about this. I will have to work up until I go into labor or am induced if I do not have a note from my doctor. I can see myself working for maybe another month, but I really would like the last 6 months to get everything ready for baby, clean my home completely, get things organized, learn some things about newborns and the birth process. What the heck should I do??

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY ONLINE RESOURCES FOR FAILURE TO THRIVE OR GROWTH DISORDER IN INFANTS?
Dec 16th
Question by butterfly:
Does anyone know of any on the web resources for failure to thrive or growth disorder in infants?
My son has been under the 3rd percentile for his weight since he was about 4 months old. He’s now 15 months. I am working with his pediatrician to try to find out the reason for this. He’s on dietary supplements even (a soy “pediasure” due to diarreah/vomiting with milk products. He was breastfed as a young infant so we did not know about the milk allergy until after he was one). He’s been tested for cystic fibrosis and some other things with his thyroid. Those were negative but it did show that he had some sort of anemia. I am looking for some scholastic resources that I can pass along to his physician in the hopes that we can get him into a normal weight range. Thank you in advance for your help.

CAN A BLADDER INFECTION MAKE A GROUP B STREP TEST COME BACK POSITIVE…I’M 37 WEEKS PREGNANT?
Sep 12th
Question by mommy material:
Can a bladder infection make a Group B Strep test come back positive…I’m 37 weeks pregnant?
I am 37 weeks pregnant and at my dr appt this day my urine came back with protein and blood in it. I have not had any other problems during pregnancy. The dr told me it was most likely a bladder infection and wanted me to start meds right away even though the culture results were not going to be back til monday. I went to get the prescription filled and the pharmacist told me that since I was 37 weeks that it was not safe to take the medicine prescribed by the dr between 38 weeks and 42 weeks because it can cause anemia in the baby. So I am not on anything yet and my dr office was shut when I got the prescription filled. I was also tested for the Group B strep test. My question is can having a bladder infection this far along cause the Strep B test to come back positive? I have been doing Research on the web and I have found multiple web pages discussing the effects untreated bladder infections can have on newborns and can cause preterm labor. I am very scared and I can’t speak to the dr til monday and it is currently friday. The pharmacist told me that if I get worse to go to the hospital but I did not even have any symptoms to begin with other than the urge to pee alot. If anyone can help give me a peace of mind til I speak to the dr it would be great. Thanks!

MY DAUGHTERS BLOOD TEST IS CONCERNING ME…ANY THOUGHTS?
Apr 15th
Question by <3 he calls me his angel <3:
my daughters blood test is concerning me…any thoughts?
my daughter is three and a half mths old and she just went thru a spell for about two weeks where she wasnt interested in nursing at all and she wanted to sleep all day and i would have to wake her up to force her to eat. she is exclusively breastfed, she barely even has a bottle, and my milk supply is fantastic. my milk is very rich and filling and i know that becuz i also give it to my toddler, and it satisfies his hunger and hes healthy and growing. but shes a different story, at her two mth checkup she weighed 10lbs7oz, when i took her in at three mths she wieghed 10lbs6oz, her dr ordered a blood test and it showed low hemoglobin, so i googled it and some scary results came back such a lupus and porphyria. her dr told me to wake her up every two hrs to nurse her and bring her back in for a weight check in four days, so i have and im taking her in tuesday, but in the meantime id like to hear if anyone else has had this experience with a newborn? could it be easy anemia or something more serious? thanks.

19 WEEKS PREGNANT, HAVE ANEMIA AND FEAR LOOSING MY BABY SO MUCH!?
Feb 24th
Question by Eveeee:
19 weeks pregnant, have anemia and fear loosing my baby so much!?
I am 19 weeks pregnant and all seems fine, not had any problems. But i do have an iron deficiency that i have had from a young age. My physician has been worried but it hasn’t affected the baby. I have been given iron injections and tablets that have stabilized the level in my blood. I just can’t stop thinking about how bad it would be to loose my baby and its worrying me so much. Did anyone else have this problem?
