WHAT DO YOU DO ABOUT IMMUNIZATIONS?
Feb 22nd
Question by townsizz7:
What do you do about immunizations?
I have studied facts about both vaccines and diseases that are supposed to be prevented by vaccines. Vaccines still do not represent immunity nor they are 100% safe. On the other hand having the disease brings permanent immunity. So.. why the hassle and why putting preservatives and germs and viruses in my baby’s bloodstream if he could still get the disease whether is mild or not.
Why physicians recommends you blindly follow the vaccine schedule?
Is there a superior way to protect your child and stay away from vaccines that are not 100% safe?
Is this a battle of interests?

WHAT SHOULD THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE BE BEFORE PUTTING A NEWBORN IN A SWIMMING POOL?
Feb 19th
Question by aNewGrandma:
What should the temperature outside be before putting a newborn in a swimming pool?
My DIL’s parents bought a 5 ft. pool and filled it up last night. The temp’s here are stilling getting down into the 40′s or 50′s and being as it’s gonna get up to almost 80′s and windy this day they decided that they want to “try the baby out in the pool” to see how he likes it. He’s two months old and weighs a whopping 8 lbs. (He was two months premature).
I recommended that she NOT try the baby in the pool today, as it’s just not pool weather yet and the water temperature is toooooo cold and will swiftly lower his body temperature. He’s got all summer to get into the pool. I just do not comprehend them trying to rush EVERYTHING.
Does anyone know what the outside temp and water temp should be before putting a baby into a pool?
To answer someone’s question:
YES, I think they are NUTS.
I do realize that he is my DIL’s child and NOT MINE. HOWEVER, he is also my SON’S child and if her parent’s are going to recommend anything STUPID and/or endangering which they like to do then that’s why I get involved and notify my son (the baby’s DADDY).

HAS EVERYONE ON HERE FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE DANGERS OF SHAKEN BABY SYNDROME……?
Feb 16th
Question by juniormintsrock:
has everyone on here forgotten about the dangers of shaken baby syndrome……?
this man asks a question…..
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070329101438AAhm9TI&r=w&pa=FZptHWf.BGRX3OFMhjFUWE8g4xNUdoJmQ25sBipT22hBWdBdDLf6JZYqbZhH023V8fnNTg9POKTtgBHkdQ–&paid=answered#RsQnWTe5VzDNrzlPGnvUcejoVepvyv7klwL0GizU.J16nKcdg5Ks
And almost every one of the answers alluded to his not being a man for being unable to handle the noise and crying of an infant. Have you all forgotten that one of the leading causes in brain damage and death in infants is from shaken baby syndrome, which generally occurs when a parent or caregiver cannot handle the excessive crying of a baby? Those of you who think, oh well I have never had that problem, yay for you, but some people do not have the tools to deal with that, instead of putting someone down for honestly saying they can’t handle something maybe we should give information and help that person find a resource to develop those tools. Or am I just insane for thinking that we should help infants in these situations?

Congratulations to every single one of you in the linked question who offered your lovely brand of advice, you could have just possibly succeeded in keeping this man and his child from getting the help they may need.
Even if it was not a serious question, it is a serious matter, not everyone gave bad answers, but for those of you who did….hope it made you feel better.
I seriously hope none of you have to deal with the horror that comes from being a mom or dad of a shaken baby……
He never once in his question said he did not want to take care of the baby, he asked for help, not judgment and insults, even though can you really anticipate much more from the majority of morons on Answers?

QUESTION ABOUT THE MMR AND CHICKEN POX SHOTS??
Feb 15th
Question by linedancer563:
Question about the MMR and Chicken Pox Shots??
I have always followed a delayed shot schedule, mostly because I did not like the thought of giving up to 4 shots at once to my infant. So, over the months, my daughter was given all of the shots except for the MMR and the Chicken Pox Vaccine.
Today, my 20 month old finally recieved the shots. I was a little wary about it, but I knew if I did not just get them done, I would make excuse after excuse not to bring her in….LOL.
She got two shots, one in each leg. My first question is, since she received them in two different shots, that’s not the same as the MMRV, right? I have read that the combined shot has more side effects, so would I classify her as having two shots or one? (Sorry, I know I am making this confusing…)
My second questions is for the Mother’s whose kids have already had the shots. What was your childs reaction, if any. And how long did you give Tylenol/Motrin? I am planning on giving Motrin around the clock for the next 24 hours…is that too long, or not long enough??
Since my daughter was born, these have been the two shots I have been worried about the most. Any reassuring advice would be greatly appreciated.

IS IT OKAY TO GIVE MY INFANT OF 1 MONTH AND A WEEK PURIFIED WATER FROM A BOTTLE?
Feb 14th
Question by Bella:
Is it okay to give my infant of 1 month and a week purified water from a bottle?
Is it okay to give my baby of one month and a week bottle water? I mix part of the 16-oz water into his formula. I find it easier and faster to give my infant bottle water at room temperature and mix it in with his formula rather than having to heat water in the microwave to warm the formula up to room temp. that has been refreigerated. Also for how long can I keep using that left over bottle water that is left?? Thanks to anyone getting back to me.
