Feeding Picky Eater Baby
WHAT DO YOU GIVE YOU FINGER FEEDING BABY?
May 11th
Question by :
What do you give you finger feeding baby?
I used to make all my son’s food with a food processor. Now that he refuses to “be fed” I am running out of ideas on what to feed him and I think he’s getting a little bored. For example, when I would food process his food, a sweet potato would last weeks because I had a huge variety of food to give him. Now, I just can’t give him just one veggie so it doesn’t go bad. Lately, I have been giving him turkey lunch meat, cheese, bread, fruit, steamed veggies, and whole wheat noodles. Breakfasts are usually an egg yolk or bananas with toast. I made him a grilled cheese this day and he literally inhaled it which made me think he was bored with the current menu. I like giving him really healthy food because me and daddy lost a lot of weight before we had him and have a tendency to be heavier so I do not want him getting used to eating grilled cheese and french fries every day and have the same problems we did and I want him to be used to our eating habits and not be a picky eater. He can eat just about anything now except citrus, nuts, and shellfish because we have not fed him that yet. But I would also like something somewhat quick to prepare so he doesn’t fill up on puffs before I get his meal prepared. Dinners aren’t that much of a problem because I just make a smaller portion of what we eat. But for the rest of the day, I rarely eat meals. I just snack all day. I know this is a long explanation but I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

NEED HELP WITH PICKY EATER?
Apr 17th
Question by alisha#1:
Need Help with Picky Eater?
I have a 14 month baby girl. She is So picky when it comes to eating. She is a breastfed only baby. Up until one month ago she only ate from the breast. With teething she would not accept anything else. I talked to her pediatrician in regards to devising a plan to get her off the breast. I have tried all of his suggestion. Nothing works. I am looking to try to go back to work in 2 months. I need for my husband to be able to watch her. However, she refuses everything that is not the breast. She will not drink anything accept water from the cup. I have been force feeding her 2 a day for a couple of days now. Finally, she has caught on a decided to keep her mouth open and not swallow. She cries through every feeding session from beginning to end. I have tried feeding her with her favorite show on. That help for a little while and then she did not care anymore. I have tried feeding her at various times of the day, before breastfeeding, and after breastfeeding. I have tried all and any food….baby food, finger foods, vegetables (various ways) table food. The only thing she will eat and will not protest is fruit, Popsicles, dry Cheerios, and crackers. Please help. Any recommendation at this point is welcomed. And she does to poly-vitamins (liquid) with iron. So, she is getting her vitamins. I know I will not get a eating cure overnight. I am looking for a plan that will keep her interested in food enough for me to wean her.
she never took to bottle. and honestly I am ok with that because she drinks out a cup just find

Mar 25th
Question by Lil’s Mommy:
Is my 8 month old a picky eater?
I can’t seem to get my daughters dinner time on a regular schedule. Some days she decides she wants to eat other days she nibbles. She loves to feed herself she’ll eat her fruit, and her snacks; but when it comes to dinner time it is a whole different story. She plays and spits her food out. Any sugggestions from anyone on how you handled this situation? I know all babies are not the same, she’s not under weight sometimes I feel like I am doing something wrong.

ARE OR WERE YOUR CHILDREN PICKY EATERS? DID YOU GET THEM TO OVERCOME THIS? DO YOU HAVE…?

Question by tulachek:
ARE OR WERE YOUR CHILDREN PICKY EATERS? did you get them to overcome this? do you have…?
…experiences & advice to share?
oh yes we have all been down this road… funny my oldest was very picky and sometimes would get a case of “Lock Jaw”… as an infant… about 4mos he would take one bite and somehow would accomplish the impossible.. chewing without swallowing… next time he tried this… i just put his food away.. tried again at lunch.. same results… and by the time dinner rolled around.. no problem… he ate.. my youngest was never picky… he ate everything.. i started to let them explore feeding themselves at 5mos… they were developing quite fast and were able to sit..it seemed to work better… at one point my youngest would just have a preference for peanut butter… my pediatrician check him over and said not to worry… of course i kept regular visits to the physicians when they would have these spells..
what were your experiences with “picky eaters” how did you help them overcome this habit? how long did it go on? if you are a grandparent… do your grands do this too?
care to share?

DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVING TROUBLE FEEDING THEIR BABY?
Dec 23rd
Question by breisingermela:
Does anyone else having trouble feeding their baby?
My daughter is 10 and a half months old, and I am getting a bit frustrated feeding her. She will not eat her veggies…at first I thought it was the fact that maybe she did not liked canned veggies, so I steamed veggies for the past week and a half and now she will not even eat them. It seems like the only thing she will eat is spaghetti and meatballs and bread and her snacks and fruit cups. I even tried mixing the veggies with her spaghetti and she refuses and even takes the veggies out of her mouth. Is this something that will change over time? Is it a phase they go through? Should I continue to still try and feed her the veggies and other meat until she likes them? My husband is a very picky eater, could she be taking after him?
She will not even touch baby food anymore. She likes her solid foods. She doesn’t even like mashed potatoes.

CAN I FEED MY BABY VARIETY NUTS EVERY DAY INCLUDING PECAN, WALNUT, PEANUT BUTTER, ALMOND AND CASHEW NUT?
Nov 29th
Question by puspa ayu:
Can I feed my baby variety nuts every day including pecan, walnut, peanut butter, almond and cashew nut?
My super picky eater baby is 18 months old. I have been feeding him those variety nuts “every single day” for about a month or two now. I blend the nuts very soft like smoothie mix with pineapple, blueberry or other fruit and low calorie jello. Sometime I blend it with baby yogurt or cheeses and milk too. He has “no allergic reaction at all”. The fact is he gains weight very well. That is his only snack he is willing to eat.
I also blend nuts soft with his main course. I give him sunflower seed too. I wonder if I give him good choices, since my baby sitter (she has a two years old baby, but never feed him any kind of nut) tell me not to give him that kind of nuts each day to avoid any baby digestive and other internal problem, is it true?

WHAT AGE DO TODDLERS USUALLY BECOME PICKY EATERS?
Nov 6th
Question by David’sMomma:
What age do toddlers usually become picky eaters?
My son is only 9 months but he is a great eater. He’s been off pureed foods for a couple of months and he feeds himself. He eats meat, vegetables, fruit, dairy, etc. I feed him very healthy food. I was wondering when I should anticipate him to change his eating habits and he might become more picky. I know all babies are different so he might not be picky but I was wondering when most kids become picky eaters (what age).
Thank you
