5.5 MONTH OLD INFANT SLEEP ISSUES?
Dec 16th
Question by Deli:
5.5 month old infant sleep issues?
I was wondering what I could do to help my 5 1/2 month old sleep better. Im a single mother that is running out of steam and sleep!
This is her story: She goes to bed around 6:30 or 7 depending on her tiredness. I always nurse her and then give her the bottle and she usually falls asleep. Now the tricky part. I put her down in her crib, which is right next to my bed and 50%of the time she wakes up as soon as her back touches the mattress and starts crying, fussing, louder and louder. From there the only way she will fall back asleep (since she is now full and wont nurse) is by me bobbing and rocking her. It can take anywhere from 15 min to 3 hours to get her back down.
Thats the first part. The second part is that I wake her before I go to bed to feed her again (she is below the growth charts and feeding her is super important), she sleepily has an ounce then off to sleep again. She usually wakes 2 more times; between 2-4 and after that 2 hours later. Its the same story with getting her back down after each wakeup. Can anyone advise me on how to make this get back to sleep better? Im completely exhausted!
Thanks!

I AM BREASTFEEDING AND DON’T KNOW IF MY NEWBORN IS GETTING ENOUGH OR NOT?
Dec 16th
Question by Datura:
I am breastfeeding and do not know if my newborn is getting enough or not?
Do not laugh, I am serious. I am trying to figure out if I should call the physician or not. Since I am breastfeeding I am only able to figure out how much my daughter is really eating by the amount of dirty diapers I am changing and what’s in them. She has eaten a few times today, pretty normal, mostly slept though; but I have not changed ONE poopy diaper. The breastfeeding chart says I should have had 3. And her pee has been odd too, not always but over the last day some strange issues have occured. It is kind of orangish (something to do with acid they said?!) and I think there is a bit of blood in it (apparently girl babies can be born with PMS, they call it pseudo-menses and it’s like a mini period from all the hormones she got from me during birth) and she had some kind of mucus discharge (I called the hospital about that one and they said the mucus discharge was common and would only happen once or twice, I do not think it has happened again but I have had to keep cleaning off the residual aftermath today- it just happened yesterday evening and we gave her a bath this afternoon so I think I got it all finally) So basically I have no idea what is going on with her feeding because I do not know wth I am doing and I am even more confused by trying to figure it out with what is going on with her diaper! Any help would be appreciated!
by the way she is 3 days old and yes, this is my first child LOL

KIDS ARE WORSE OFF NOWADAYS AND HAVE MORE MEDICAL PROBLEMS THAN EVER ??
Dec 16th
Question by Diva In New York:
Kids are worse off nowadays and have more medical problems than ever ??
With all these feeding as infant guidelines and dont do this and that, and all these hormones pumped into food and all these guidelines and growth chart scales and blah , blah I think children have more medical problems now then ever before. Autism ? ADD/ ADHD ? All these overweight children and teens with eating disorders. I say the children were superior off in the old days when they knew less ! Sometimes the medical field is a bunch of crap. Who concurs ?

NEWBORN BABY POSSIBLY NEEDING MORE FOOD?
Jan 5th
Question by KainensMommy09:
Newborn baby possibly needing more food?
So my son is 7 weeks old this week and he is still eating only 6oz every 3 hours.
BUT during the 3 hour waiting period he drinks on the 6 oz bottle . .so drinks the same 6oz bottle for 3 hours and then I make him another and feed him ANOTHER 6oz bottle for 3 hours.
He never just drinks a 6oz bottle in one session.
He is a healthy baby, he’s well over 12lbs and he’s in the 50% range on the growth charts.
I was wondering is I could possibly feed him a SMALL amount of cereal, in his milk and not much before bed – -I’ve heard of some people doing it- – but I feel like I need more views . .
Don’t be ignorant –
=]
Okay well for one he the bottle is made fresh and then put in the fridge . .for two he was drinking 6oz in one sitting EVERY 3 hours!!!
I asked the dr and she said that was a lot but at the same time if that’s what he wanted then that’s what he needed and that some babies need a lot –
Well why all the sudden is he slowing down and not drinking the rest –
Sometimes he’s not interested but most of the time its because he wants to sleep –
Overall I guess it’s nothing to worry about – -I just was asking about the oatmeal because I know of a few people that did and told me to – but I was not going to do it without seeing if there was some that did -

DOES ANYONE HAVE A GOOD FEEDING CHART FOR AN INFANT?
Jan 5th
Question by Caitlin M:
Does anyone have a good feeding chart for an infant?
Hey everyone!!! I hope the weather is as nice where you are as it is here!!! Anyway….
My son is almost 5 months and we started him on oatmeal and fruits/veggies about 3-4 weeks ago… per his pediatrician. They told me that once I have introduced all the fruits and veggies for at least 3days/item that he should be eating……. *get this*
Breakfast= oatmeal and 1/2 container of fruit
Lunch= oatmeal and 1/2 container veggie
Dinner= oatmeal and rest of veggie container
Bedtime snack= oatmeal and rest of fruit container
and a 6-8oz. bottle every3-4 hours……..
ok so this is my first child and all but that sounds like a heck of a lot of food for a little baby. I have only been feeding him twice a day and giving 1/2TBS. oatmeal+ 1-2tsp. fruit or veggie and then a 6oz. bottle every 3-4 hours…. HELP!!!
if anyone has a good chart or knows of something on the web that can help me… please!!!! also…. I just started to ween him off breast milk (long story I have PCOS and am no longer producing enough for him) and he’s been eating enfamil LIPIL…. is this a good formula??? should I upgrade to the new LIPIL??? Thanks ladies! Hope you have a great day!

CAN YOU REALLY OVER FEED A NEWBORN?
Nov 10th
Question by Bella:
Can you really over feed a newborn?
My newborn (1 mo old) at first was underfed, and now the physician says he is overfed if he is consuming 5oz at a feeding. However, on the growth charts my baby is slow. He is just now 9 pounds at 1 month old. The physician said to fed him sterilized water if he wants more food. But he seems hungry and can keep down 5oz when he wants it. His feedings can range from 2.5oz to 5oz with supplemental nursing.
