Question by Happy Mom and Wife:
Renting a Automobile Seat through Babies Away? Bringing a Automobile Seat on a Plane?

Has anyone brought their baby on a plane before and had to bring their automobile seat with them on the plane. We are looking to travel with my daughter in January and she will be in a rear facing automobile seat (not a carrier). We do not know if we should bring the automobile seat on the plane with us or rent one through Babies Away. Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas/experiences?

My daughter will 9 1/2 months old at the time of travel.

They let you check the automobile seat for free, since it’s something you have to have, so we have always done that, rather than paying to rent one. It is a little bit of a hassle to have one more thing to drag along, but at least they do not charge the $ 15-$ 25 “checked bag fee!” A lot of times they will put the automobile seat in a massive plastic bag too, so that none of the pieces, pads, or straps go missing.

I always travel with automobile seats it is a bit of a hassel but it is free and way superior than to use one a million children have sat in.

Check the carseat. It should be free since it’s necessity and just hold your baby on the plane.
