Question by Nicky T:
Is my babies temperature normal?

I have a 4 month old who is very chunky. He weighs about 23lbs. His temperature rectally day or night is consistently 99ish to 100.4 (it’s never been higher). He acts normal and tends to be a sweat baby. Is this normal?
That would be sweaty

yep. babies have a temp just slightly higher than adults. as long as he’s not going any higher than that and the physician doesn’t seem bothered by it, he should be fine.

Generally babies have higher body tempteratures than adults. Our pediatrition said that 99 was usual for a new born but it shouldn’t get like 101 (i think this part is a little vague). 4 month was still around that temp

Answer by Audra S
When my son was around that age, the physicians told me a temperature was safe up to 100.4. Anything higher than that was a reason to control- either medical (with meds) or non medical (bath, warm/cool rag, etc…)
