Question by apryle:
what do you use besides a rectal thermometer to take an infants temperature?

i am freaked out by the idea of taking a rectal temp. i know it’s most accurate but i know there are a few other things out there like a forehead one and the ear one. but i have heard they aren’t accurate. is there one or brand that u use that u love and get an accurate reading?

I take her temperature under her arm just with the thermometer the hospital gave me.

You should try the ear thermometers. They’re almost as accurate as rectal thermometers–the eardrum shares the same blood supply as the section of the brain that controls core body temperature. One of the ideal is the Braun ThermoScan Electronic Ear Thermometer. It’s a little high-priced at $ 59.99, but it’s completely worth it. Your baby will not be uncomfortable in the least, and you can continue using it as they get older. It renders an accurate temperature reading in just a couple of seconds.

Use an ear thermometer or you can buy a pacifier that has a thermometer built into it..they just suck on it and there is a display that says their temp.
