If it is thrush, you will want to see a doctor. It’s basically a yeast infection for the mouth, so you will have to be prescribed an antifungal. If you are nursing, you will need to be treated as well.

The correct term is THRUSH. Thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth. Thrush is painful. Could it be that it is just milk residue that you see? If so, there is nothing to do with that but clean it. If it is thrush, there are a few things you can look for like:

If you think your baby has thrush, look for the characteristic white patches. Then gently touch a patch with a gauze-covered finger. If it is thrush, it probably will not come off very easily, but if it does, you’ll find a raw, red area underneath that may bleed.

If you notice a white coating on your baby’s tongue but nowhere else, it’s probably just milk residue (especially if you can wipe it off). Thrush patches can appear on your baby’s tongue, but are most often found on the sides of the mouth. These spots can be painful — you may first suspect thrush if your baby starts crying when nursing or sucking on a pacifier or bottle.

My son had thrush, well I suppose my physician never actually used the word thrush surprisingly but he did say it was pretty much a “yeast infection in the mouth” It did not seem very painful at all. I was actually clueless about it. I thought it was just because of him drinking his formula.
The physician noticed at his 2 month checkup and said it is “very common” and that antibiotics will get rid of it and that I had to sterilize his bottles everyday. Some babies are just more sensitive?
It was a pain to constantly sterilize his bottles but it never came back after he finished his medicine.
Hes 8 months and I do not sterilize them anymore just clean them in hot soapy water.
Hope I helped
