Question by Jessica L:
How do you feel about cosleeping with your newborn?

I personally did not do it. I was too afraid I would squish him in my sleep.

I feel that as long as you do it safely then it can benefit both mother and baby.

I co-slept with our son while he was a newborn. It made me worry less about him and I loved having him right next to me. Plus, it helped him sleep superior because he was next to his mommy.

If I would have ever thought it was dangerous it would have stopped. But, like I said, it CAN be done safely.

ETA:
“Until a legitimate survey is done to determine how many babies sleep with their parents, and this is factored into the rate of SIDS in a bed versus a crib, it is unwarranted to say that sleeping in a crib is safer than a bed.”

ETA: LOL, Hannah, agreed. Never has it happened first hand but it’s always “My friend’s coworker” or “My friend’s, sister’s brother….”

ETA: Ugh, people, co-sleeping REDUCES the risk of SIDS. And SIDS can happen while your baby is sleeping alone in their crib too. Their crib is not a magical place where nothing will happen to them while they sleep! Geez.
