Question by kk:
Baby got polio shot and has been spitting up for two days after?

It’s not after every meal (he is breastfeed). He seems pretty happy, with occasional fussiness, but not more than normal. He has been having plenty of wet and poopy diapers. Should I be worried or do babies just have days that they spit up more than others? He is almost 4 months old and for the most part doesn’t spit up very often.
He doesn’t have a temperature and hasn’t since the shot.

I do not think that the polio vaccine is responsible for the spitting. The spitting in babies is normal as soon is not interfering with their growth. Sometimes they have a little reflux and again that is not caused by any vaccine.

a little spit up is normal, if he does it with every feed and developes respiratory infections then I would speak to your pediatrician about reflux. Remember to burp your baby after every feed and keep him upright after feeds, hopefully this helps. Since he does not have a fever and is happy I doubt that there is any reaction from his vaccine. Good for you for breastfeeding :)

I’m a pediatric nurse and increased vomiting or spitting up is not a common side effect of the polio vaccine. It could be that he picked up a little stomach virus while at the physicians or just a coincidence.

Hope this helps!
