Question by Thereseanna:
Could my newborn baby (6 weeks old) have Down Syndrome?

How would I know if my newborn has down syndrome? He looks like he could have it, and has certain strange behavoirs that my first child never had. What are the early signs and symptoms? Would this be something the pediatrician could have missed?

What exactly makes you think he has Down’s Syndrome other than “strange behaviors”? If you think there is a problem, you need to talk with your pediatrician. In most cases, Down’s Syndrome is diagnosed rather quickly.
