1.What made you decide that you wanted to breastfeed?
I decided to breastfeed for a few reasons they are:
1. I come from a farm and would sometimes rasie calves and bottlefeed them, and I noticed that the bottle fed ones didnt grow as big and healthy looking as the ones on the moms (they were still healthy just not quite as much)
2. Just seemed more natural
3. All the benefits to the baby I have heard and read about
4. Also saves money, formula is expensive, whereas for me to eat alittle more doesnt cost that much.
5. Also helps to lose weight, which is a great thing when you just had a baby and extra weight to lose.

2.Did you have a strong bond with baby?
I had a very strong bond and still do with both the babies I breastfed!
3.Did you enjoy breastfeeding/
With my first baby, I did not enjoy it at first, mostly bc I had lots of trouble, but once I figured out how to do it correctly (its not as simple as one may think) I didnt mind it. The one thing I didnt like all that much was I was the only one who could feed the baby, so I wouldnt be able to really go anywhere without the baby at first bc newborns eat quite often (I didnt like to pump, that just seemed weird to me), I also felt like I was sitting around being lazy alot, but then I would think I am still burning a bunch of calories and I dont even have to run or do other exersise, so I liked it for that reason.
But I in the end I enjoyed it more then I didnt because it was great bonding, and I loved to watch my little baby lay there so peacefully and enjoyed the fact that I was doing something for my baby that would benefit it, and I was burning calories at the same time.
4.Did you breastfeed after birth when baby was born?
I breastfed the baby right from birth.
5.Did you have any help such as lactation help?
Yes!! I thought it would be easy, but its a lot harder then one would think. With my second baby though I didnt need any help bc I knew how.
6.Did your baby latch on right away after birth?
No!
7.How long did you breastfeed, if stiil is how long are you going to continue?
I breastfed both my babies alittle more then 1 year probably about 13-14 months
8.Did you breastfeed in public?
No I felt to uncomfortable to do that.
9.Did other people give you mean and stinky looks?
No but I didnt breastfeed in public.
10.What was the funniest thing that happen to you while breastfeeding?
I dont really remember anything funny.
11.Why do some moms breastfeed naked?
I’m quite sure, I never breastfed naked.
12.Could you breastfeed a toddler while bathing?
probably could but I never did
13.Could a toddler become breast obsessed( such as always wanting to eat at any time)?
My children didnt at the end I only breastfed them at night and they were ok with that.
14.Has your baby or toddler ever pulled your shirt up at an uncertain time?
nope lol that would be funny though.
15.What does the word elongated mean?
not sure, sorry
16.When baby is nursing, does the milk relaxes them?
yes, mine usually fell asleep.
17.How long does baby nurses for?
it vaires at first like only 15 minutes at a time
18. If you had a toddler and the baby was nursing, did the oldest one get jealous?
Sometimes but she was usually pretty good, just as long as I gave her some time later when the new baby was sleeping
19.Whats the ideal position for baby to la in while nursing/
I dont remember the name, but the postion where the baby layed on the lap, also when they got alittle older to lay beside me in bed, that way I didnt have to wake up to feed the baby (I am a very light sleeper when my baby is laying beside me and I dont move around at all)
20.What is the position called when baby lays on top of mom, and mother is lying on her back?
not sure, sorry
21.What are all of the breastfeeding positions?
not sure about all of them either.
22.Any websites that I could use as a reference?
sorry I dont know any at this point

Hope my answers help and I think its great your doing a school project on breastfeeding!!!

1.What made you decide that you wanted to breastfeed?

To me it’s part of being a mother. I could no more picture motherhood without breastfeeding than I could picture it without holding my child. There was never any decision on my part, it was part of the deal.

2.Did you have a strong bond with baby?

Very.

3.Did you enjoy breastfeeding/

For the most part. I had my moments just like I had my moments when I have rather not rocked her right that second, but it was overwhelming positive.

4.Did you breastfeed after birth when baby was born?

It took them about 45 minutes to sew me up and then I got the chance to breastfeed.

5.Did you have any help such as lactation help?

Yes. I used a nipple shield for the first 4 months because I have fairly flat nipples. I used a lactation consultant in the hospital to get everything in order and again 3 days later when my milk came in and I became so engorged I could not put my arms down straight to my sides.

I called the LC again at 14 months when we needed help adapting her latch to fit a toddler sized mouth and because I was having a weird eczema on my nipples.

6.Did your baby latch on right away after birth?

Her first feed was about 45 minutes after birth and she needed help latching.

7.How long did you breastfeed, if stiil is how long are you going to continue?

Roughly 3 1/2 years. If you want to get precise 30 1/2 months.

8.Did you breastfeed in public?

Yes, until she was a little past her second birthday at which time we started slicing back the number of nursing sessions and it just did not happen in public anymore. I did not hide it, it just did not come up after that. I have never had any issue about nursing in front of others at any age if they happened to be around during a nursing session.

9.Did other people give you mean and stinky looks?

Not that I noticed. When we nursed together, we looked at each other. Someone could have given me the stink-eye and I would have had no clue.

10.What was the funniest thing that happen to you while breastfeeding?

On several occasions, I had people lean in to take a peek only to discover I was nursing her. I did not use a blanket or other cover up, but I am quite talented at arranging my shirt.

11.Why do some moms breastfeed naked?

No idea. I have never met someone who does that. I would think you’d get chilly.

12.Could you breastfeed a toddler while bathing?

Yes, but I can’t envision it’s very comfortable. You need to really recline in order to nursing a toddler.

13.Could a toddler become breast obsessed( such as always wanting to eat at any time)?

No. An obsession is an unhealthy and abnormal fixation. Wanting to demand feed is neither unhealthy or abnormal. A toddler may want to breastfeed frequently just as a toddler may want to carry around a lovie constantly, but it cannot, by definition, be an “obsession.” That’s something people who do not comprehend extended breastfeeding cook up.

14.Has your baby or toddler ever pulled your shirt up at an uncertain time?

I do not know what you mean by uncertain time. Inconvenient? No, she was never a help herself kind of kid. Before she could ask for it, she could sign. She would give me the sign and we’d find a place to sit and nurse (I’m coordinated enough to nurse and walk, but I can only latch sitting down).

15.What does the word elongated mean?

Lengthened.

16.When baby is nursing, does the milk relaxes them?

Yes. Breastmilk contains hormones that rest both mother and child.

17.How long does baby nurses for?

Depends on the baby.

18. If you had a toddler and the baby was nursing, did the oldest one get jealous?

n/a

19.Whats the ideal position for baby to la in while nursing/

Depends on the size of the baby, shape of the mouth, size of the breast, age of the baby. There’s no one ideal position.

20.What is the position called when baby lays on top of mom, and mother is lying on her back?

Never heard of it.

21.What are all of the breastfeeding positions?

I know of the football hold, the side-laying hold and the cross body hold by name. I also used to lay on my side in a fetal position, prop my baby up against my thighs and nurse. I have really long breasts though. No one else I know nurses in this position, lol!

22.Any websites that I could use as a reference?

kellymom.com and mothering.com are the ideal resources I am aware of.
