Question by S.Z.:
Did you get your infant vaccinated for the flu?

Just wonderingif you got your infant under age one vaccinated for the flu.

Both the regular flu shot and H1N1?

The H1N1 will not be available till the end of the month here but I am considering getting him vaccinated.

And I am still considering the regular flu shot.

He does not go to daycare nor is he babysat so his chances of getting it are lower…

If you did or did not gte your infant their flu shots tell me your reasons and also how old is your child, thanks!
I was offered it at his 6 month check but declined. The Dr and nurse suggested it but there’s too many possible allergens in it such as egg white protein that would be a bigger risk to my son than actually catching it.

I was considering changing my mind after all the grief I was getting. But then I read up on it and found that even though he was in the age range of being considered “high risk”, he was never in a situation where he would be exposed such as daycare or other school age siblings and visitors.

On top of that he was already getting 2 other vaccinations that day.

Then I was given a paper where if I changed my mind I could go and get it and also take him for the H1N1 when it came out.

I told my husband and family I declined and they gave me a lot of sh*t for it.

My MIL already got the seasonal flu shot, but not H1N1. And my husband and I concurred we will both go get the flu shot but not the H1N1 to prevent either of us getting it and giving it to our son.

When my son was an infant, no.

he is 2 1/2 now and i still will not get the flu shot or the H1N1. We’re healthy individuals. i’d rather him and i get the flu and stay hydrated the take the possible risk of neurological disorders or anything like that

My baby was only 5 months old when the flu shot came out, and I did not get it for him yet because he is not 6 months. I know lots of people who got their babies shots (the oldest baby being 10 months, youngest being 6), simply because they did not want to watch their child vomit.

I was told the H1N1 shot was made the same way as the regular flu shot, and plan to get it for my baby once it is out. I do not know about where you are, but where I am they are not allowing the flu shot to be given once H1N1 is out for high risk groups (including infants age 6-23 months)

No I did not get my son vaccinated with the flu or H1N1 flu shots. My son is very healthy & doesn’t need additional vaccinations if I do not think about them to be necessary. The H1N1 shot is too new & current for me to trust.
